Just a tip — if you post these changes in the caption of the photo, they will be more easily available for anybody who searches the flickr pool for inspiration and comes across your dress. You can include notes about what size you made and what fabric you used as well, people often are curious about that.

Yep, High Springs. We make it to Manatee Springs several times a year. Do you ever hit up that quilt shop in Trenton?

It’s my lack of skill at successfully turning an entire skirt hem 1/2″ and then again. All attempts were wavy and unappealing. And my machine won’t baste properly.
I found BanRol at the local fabric store, and will give that a try and let you all know how it worke.d
One reason I really like sewing for my littlest is that size 2 things are so…[Read more]

mcholley1, the picture is of Manatee Springs, in Chiefland, Florida. It’s pretty near where I live. (Rainbow Springs in Dunnellon is a little nearer, and that is where I usually go to swim.) Are you nearby?

I have made the Garden Party dress twice now, and I just want to record a few changes I made in case it would interest anyone else:
*After tracing the front piece I cut my pattern apart along the basting line so I could mark along it on the fabric (taped back together again for next time.)
*Ran 5 lines of basting instead of 3. Sounds excessive,…[Read more] -

Sewing for Yourself 11 years agoFirst…YAY Team Paper!!! I loathe PDFs and am so happy to be able to buy paper patterns!
I was lucky enough to be a tester for the skirt. I’m only 5’2″ and the skirt is a good length for me. It is a really fun, quick, and easy sew for anyone that is wondering about that. It does feel a little “open” when I wear it. However, I wear a pencil…[Read more]

I have never heard of Art Gallery cottons. I’ll watch out for them. Dubhels200, have fun!
The finished Garden Party dress is now posted in the Flickr group.

Sewing for Yourself 11 years agoI am still waiting for my mother to return from States to get hold of my Lisette patterns, so those would keep me busy for a while! However I would love to try the gallery top, it looks really comfortable. It’s my favorite from the new releases. I would love to try the skirt as well, I love the style. Maybe blue chambray.
I don’t get knits easily,…[Read more] -

Sewing for Yourself 11 years agoI absolutely love my gallery tunic, but I have the same reservations on the dress length. I love the tunic with skinny pants and shorts to balance out the loose ness. There are very good instructions on full bust adjustments.
The city stroll skirt is awesome. It’s fun to be a little short. Admittedly, I got to test it and wore it all winter long…[Read more]

I just had a quick look at the pattern and I don’t see why the pattern instructions wouldn’t be the best way. The hem is only a little curved. turn it half an inch, then another 1 1/2 and ease in the fullness where it curved. It will be just fine.
