Thanks @katybellabug I think I can safely say they are on the mend And hopefully will be settled on the school bus tomorrow morning.
I managed to get into the sewing room today. I cut out three more pairs of parachute pants and the aim was to assembly line sew them. I spent every nap time sewing and have almost completed them – just have the…[Read more]

I have started sewing up my first Badminton top today and am having that feeling of giddy excitement that comes with making up an O+S pattern for the first time! Isn’t it a pretty top?!
Glad to see others are in the process of using the pattern too. I spend the better part of yesterday morning tracing off everything in a size 10, so am intending…[Read more] -

Chestnut looks like it may need a a bit of room in the belly. The finished waist/chest size would be very helpful!

Without wanting to cause offence to Chestnut (last thing you need is to have to take him to counselling!) is he a portly bear?
The only place I could imagine you’d need to alter would be the waist if he/she was very rotund.
Otherwise it’s just a matter of scaling up or down if you think Chestnut is much bigger/smaller than the average doll.

All of our knit patterns have additional tips and guidance included in the instructions, so that’s probably a good place to start as well. It’s not very difficult, and it’s actually much faster than sewing with wovens, so don’t be intimidated!

Great fitting tips here — I made a size 5 for my kid and they were a bit baggy on her, she’s inherited dad’s aerodynamic lines, haha.

Haha, we have a similar bear here, I can totally relate! No tips but I would love to learn from you if you tackle it!

Hi Jerri! I remember being really intimidated by knits when I first started, but I’ve come to really enjoy them. They’re very forgiving, in a way. Here are a few great tips:
I found that my specific setup had a few quirks — for who knows what reason, ballpoint…[Read more]

I love to sew but have never sewn with knit. Probably because no one that I know sews knit fabrics and I know I would need some guidance to get started. I would love some online recommendations that would help me get started. Does anyone know of an online class or tutorial? Thanks so much!

I really shouldn’t be commenting as I have no idea how to advise on this one, just wanted to say you have made me laugh!

Not sketchbook….but the back darts on the art museum work really well on my girl for school shorts and she’s got a round derrière. I also just add patch pockets.

If you do decide to taper the legs, the one piece of quick advice I’d give you is to taper equally from the inseam and the outseam. You can narrow any pattern this way (or widen it, for that matter) if you keep that in mind. And yes, sew the rise and then pin the seams to adjust as needed.

I’m thinking about making this for a Build-A-Bear bear my dd has fallen in love with. (Its name is Chestnut, its gender changes hourly, it’s starting preschool this week, which will be a nice change from its recent round of medical emergencies.) Any tips on altering the Tea Party Dress for other species?

summer shorts in size 5… sketchbook normal (w/o front pleats) for the checked pink ones, sketchbook with zip fly and buttonhole elastic for the purple floral. The black floral are an Ottobre jeans pattern that she likes but are really too tight for playing. I did the inside waistband and pocket linings in flannel, which she liked.

Reeni replied to the topic Help Fairy Tale Tulip Sleeves in the forum oliver + s: fairy tale 10 years ago
sorry I didn’t see this sooner but i do have some advice for making sure the sleeves mirror… make them at the same time, exactly the same gathering but one face up and one face down (lining side up). Tack the overlap in place to make sure.
When you set them in, just flip one “tulip” so the correct attachment side is up. - Load More
