I’ve made 3 cartwheel dresses so far and love the assembly. My question has to do with the wearing of it. When my daughter is wearing it it’s constantly shifting in her so the front panel is riding higher. Has anyone one else had that happen and what would you suggest? Thanks!!

I think it would be worth a try to spread it by 1 1/2, but I would definitely suggest making a muslin since the dart may become quite large, you may want to adjust it, etc. I hope it works out!

Hello Lightning
Yet again you have saved the day – you helped me a few months ago as well (with the sleepover pyjamas). You can see that I too am keen on Oliver + S patterns. I’ve been to the errata as you suggested. I think I will try and slightly ‘gather’ the top back – or perhaps put a small dart in – I’m only doing the 6 months size so its…[Read more]

Wondering how far to spread the cut line for cup sizes larger than D. Do I keep adding 1/4″ for each cup size above C?
I am a 36G with a 41″ high bust and 45″ full bust. Would it be correct to make a size 16 and follow the instructions for the FBA by spreading the cut line 1 1/2″?
This is my first time sewing a top for myself and doing a FBA.

Hi Victoria, have you seen the errata note for this pattern?
If you go the pattern in the shop then you’ll see the tabs for details, photos, reviews etc There’s a tab for errata.
I’ve seen this shirt a few times and found it works fine, but when the pattern first came out there were a number of people who experienced difficulty fitting the collar…[Read more] -

Wondering if anyone can help. I’m about to put the collar on but it isn’t long enough to go round the top of the shirt and meet at the front. I’ve checked my pattern pieces and I’ve cut out all the right size although its like the back piece is too wide at the top. Disappointed because I was so proud to have done the placket!

Shawn Quinn started the topic Cuff Facing for Builing Block Dress in the forum sewing with liesl + co and oliver + s 7 years ago
I am sewing this dress for the first time for my eight year old daughter. The 1 inch cuff facing is just too small for a half inch seam and quarter inch fold over. I resized it to 1 3/8 but am curious what this measurement should be.
Thanks

I also love my Bernina, BUT feel that Brother gives you more machine o a whole lot less money and Bernina’s are no longer made in Switzerland, but in Vietnam.Brother has the true self threader and the cost is far less money.

Hi Kate,
Yes, it did end up working out for me, although I ended up having to unpick a lot and work with smaller seam allowances due to my ill-advised corner-cutting.
If you lay the dress flat and roll just as Liesl describes it will work. It’s not difficult, it just *looks* counter-intuitive. I found it pulled through quite easily (I sewed it…[Read more]
