Is there a particular pattern you are having trouble with?
If you set your printer to ‘no scaling’ or 100%, they will usually fit just fine on A4 paper. I have only ever had one pattern piece that didn’t quite fit, and had to print it ‘borderless’ to get all the size lines to show. -

Thanks juliamom and Sarvi. I hadn’t seen those snaps on the Jo-Ann website so assumed they didn’t have them but, on your recommendation, just trekked down to the store and found them. I’ve got all the pieces cut out and ready to go as soon as I have a little time to devote to this. Can’t wait!

Sarvi is correct – I put some in a Sunday Brunch Jacket. I don’t know how this applies to the School Days coat because I haven’t sewed it yet, but I sewed the magnetic snaps through both layers of facing and jacket fabric. I then just sewed the buttons on top through only the jacket fabric solely for their decorative effect.

Highpowermom, Thanks so much for posting the pictures. It helps to see it for sure. I was going to try an even skinnier leg then the straightleg for an outfit for project run and play sew along, but I ended up changing it to a shorts outfit. I still want to try the trousers with the straightleg just as you did, for my son. They look perfect.

Mrskanuckles, I was actually in the process of doing this myself when you first posted, and had to laugh because I had come here looking for the same advice! So I made sure to snap a camera phone pic of my adjusted pattern before I cut it:

If you click on the photo, it will take you to the photoset and the caption where I describe how I did it.…[Read more] -

Nicole, really miss both of them, both born in Singapore and we only see them once or twice a year, but they Skype every weekend, which is really great. We read books, sing silly songs and blow out birthday cakes this way. Their parents were adamant they shouldn’t miss out on grandparent time and I really love that.
My daughter moves to Singapore…[Read more] -

I am with Heidi,I am not sure how it would dye…..I would stagger it with the other colours.
What a nice Nana you are! -

Mim, maybe put the white in as the canter layers so it enhances the other colours without taking over. Think like undercoating a wall in white and them putting on the colour.

I so excited that I don’t want to do that. I have lengthened and pinned to the fabric.
But I do have another fabric I can use. A new little lisette. I bought it for this pattern. Sigh. Putting the smart before the fun. I will make it with the cheaper fabric.
Thanks for cooler heads prevailing!

Please make a trial run in another fabric.
When I wanted to make Tildy’s silk version I made a cotton version first to check the size.

I made the 12-18mnth width and lengthened at the hem.
She is nearly 4 (sob) and still wearing it.
If you daughter is petite and your…[Read more] -

Hope he had a grand time! Lends a new meaning to “picking rocks”. Was this school related or through another institution?

I’ve done this and what I did was just extend the existing line (which is not exactly straight up and down but tapers in a touch) and that worked pretty well. I worry that if you taper from the hip it might end up pretty narrow at the ankle and give a jodhpur effect, which doesn’t sound like what you’re thinking of. Just an idea, I haven’t tried…[Read more]

Thankyou! I actually had saw that tutorial, but I am looking to keep the trouser look of the top of the pants with the pleats, and just skinny the leg up for a boys pair of pants. I was thinking I should start from the hip area and just skim some off the outside and maybe the inside. After rereading this, I think that *may* work.
