Cuteness on those pjs, Sewitbe. I am following because I have neither pattern and am paralyzed by indecision. 🙂

I can’t compare the two for you because I’ve only made the Sleepovers but I have completed that pattern 5 times and am currently working on # 6, 7 and 8. So, clearly, I love the pattern! With these current 3 sets, I’ll have made the entire range of sizes from 12mo – 8. My kids love that they can assist in picking out the buttons and can button…[Read more]

I like the Bedtime Story for smaller people. The Sleepover appeals more to my older children. When my son was 2 I did snap tabs instead of ties. Helps with the “untie” factor on a busy toddler.

I have a woolen blanket folded double under my ironing board cover to prevent the waffle pattern and give me a more padded surface. I picked this trick up from my grandfather who would put a doubled up wool blanket straight on the dining room table to do his ironing!

I recently made some ruffled pants from corduroy. I had two big time fails. First DO NOT, I repeat DO NOT fold your fabric up and then cut. Basically you have to make sure your corduroy is always cut in the same direction. It’s so easy to get a piece flipped and not realize it until you have already sewn. My first pair of pants looked like…[Read more]

Now I have to re-look at them….I think the couture sewing techniques will really teach me more than the basics, but I don’t wear dresses ever (jeans and t-shirts for me!). The knit t-shirt one looks good, but I can’t imagine 9 lessons to make a t-shirt….but, that’s something I may actually make myself and wear. Thanks guys for your opinions!

Yes the couture sewing techniques class looks great doesn’t it. I already have the pattern so I am wondering if the option for the pattern could be disabled.
I try and look for the classes when they are on sale as some can be rather expensive. It evens out with all the viewing time though I guess.

I watched the class on sewing with knits. It really helped me since I was a complete novice. If you’ve sewn them a few times or own a serger, it would be too basic.
I enjoyed one on Quilting big projects on a small machine. Not life changing, but helpful.
I am interested in what others have found. I’m tempted by the one about sewing jeans and also…[Read more] -

I took the couture sewing with Susan Khalje last year and it was life changing. I continue to use many many of the techniques she teaches, though I rarely go full blown with all of them. After all, as she says, couture doesn’t worry about how much fabric you use or how much time it takes, but I mostly do have those constraints. 🙂
