Could you increase the size of the darts in the back to take up some of the ease?

It came out great. I love a finished seam. I used a good quality quilting cotton, and the seam wasn’t bulky at all.

I have, on several I’ve made using my husband’s shirts (beards are rough on collars!). I’ve used both linen and cotton shirting– lightweight stuff. On flannel tops I’ve finished the edges with pinking or zigzag stitches– too thick for French seams.

Hey, this is so great! I may need to throw a few samples into the mix myself. I’m up to my knees in them and don’t have time to list them for sale or anything… and S has just outgrown nearly everything she owns.

Accidentally picking up my small sized rotary cutter off the table thinking it was my tracing wheel and then using it…yep, did that today. That’ll teach me to tidy up as I go along.

I guess i was worried it would be too big as i had just had a marathon skirt sewing day and had made her 4 other skirts, mostly upsizes of what i had made for her previously only to find out they were all too big as she has grown taller but slimmed down, loosing an inch and a half from her waist 😉 so thanks for that info.

Hi all! Thanks for your responses to this! I should say that this particular skirt does run small. It’s a very slim-fitting skirt, so even if your child is measuring small you probably shouldn’t size down very much. The elastic at the back waist will cinch up any extra width, and smaller kids will want the extra room for movement anyway. Those…[Read more]
