I have the press thingy – its green. But they are a cinch to put in with it. The only thing is you have to just keep changing the knobs and of course they come in sized sets. I use the 16’s on the layette things I have made and they work just fine. But the original intention was to make my own nappies (and I haven’t even started yet!)

That sounds about right to me!
Knits may be quick to sew but to get a quality looking garment you have to put in the time to get the grain straight and the fabric smooth.
I like to lay my fabric out a few hours before cutting to let it relax and re shape. Ball point pins are great as is using a combination of pins and weights.

Washed fabric (Kaufman Laguna knit), got pattern printed and put together and little one napped long enough for me to sew up my first sewing project for me to wear (other than costumes).
The knit was hard to work with for someone used to quilting cottons. It was wriggly and tough to get the edges smooth for pinning the pattern and ditto sewing.…[Read more]

I have been using the KAM one and they seem to be fine. Except they are a pain if you put them in the wrong way!

Hehe! I sincerely wish it could happen but baby girl will kick it something silly due to the weight. It is a hilariously funny image to have isn’t it? I don’t know anyone who has ever taken their sewing machine to hospital with them – but if it were allowed it would also be an option. Ah I finally found one…Bubba Earth has some in packs of 20. You can choose primary colours, jewel colours, or pastel colours.

It is possible, but would depend the width of your fabric and whether or not you are using fabric with a directional print. The pieces need to be cut as mirror images of themselves, so ideally you would cut with the fabric folded. Knit fabric is usually quite wide (which IMO makes it a bit wasteful when making little people clothes) – the best…[Read more]
