Liesl Gibson replied to the topic Book Report Size 7 — Sleeve doesn't fit into armhole. in the forum oliver + s: book report 11 years ago
Hi, and sorry for the silence. It’s been a busy week! I just grabbed S’s size 7 dress to check it and the sleeve fits fine, so I’m trying to imagine where you might be running into trouble. The obvious spot is the buttons at the shoulder, where the front overlaps the back by 1/2″. But from your photos it appears that you’ve accounted for that,…[Read more]

Ok, I’ve spent the morning checking and re-checking and re-checking, and I can’t figure out what could be wrong. The grading all appears to be correct (after going over and over it), and when I look at the pieces everything seems to be in order. I truly can’t figure out where you might be running into a problem here.
The common problem seems to…[Read more]

BeckyinFL started the topic Some questions about sewing with an interlock knit in the forum sewing with liesl + co and oliver + s 11 years ago
I have a lovely piece of gold-colored interlock knit that I’d like to use to make the School Photo dress. I’m wondering what kind of lining material I should use. The interlock has a very moderate stretch in both directions and is of a medium weight. Not sure what it’s made of, but possibly all cotton or cotton/poly.
I’m also wondering if I…[Read more]

BeckyinFL replied to the topic Fabric shelf life in the forum off topic 11 years ago
I am using fabric I bought when I worked at a fabric store in 1972, my first job after high school. I also have a closet-full collected over the years. The old fabrics are in perfect condition except for some permanent creases from being folded so long. I store it in plastic bins. I have had a problem with thread, though. Non-sewing friends have…[Read more]

I thought I’d start a new post for my problem, so it didn’t get confused with the opposite problem previously reported in another thread. I believe @Ejensewchat has had the same problem (unsure of which size she was sewing)
I’ve made the size 14 Girl Friday culottes and the finished waist has turned out about 3 inches smaller than intended.

Hey don’t panic just yet. Do try it on first and then evaluate. It may be fine.

So now I’ve been sewing the Bistro, and have a little concern. My daughter has gone to bed, so this may be unnecessary worry once she tries it on, but there seems to be a little point at the bust end of the bust darts…right an awkward spot! I know it’s not the fault of the pattern, it’s my mistake, but can anyone help me with this?

I showed her the Cinema Dress, but she specifically didn’t want the waistband seam/line and so we went with the Bistro which she also liked the more fitted look of.

Please, please don’t feel bad. You could not have put your question in a more apologetic or humble way. I really felt for you but I had no answer for your predicament.
