My serger theading method is closer to Nicole’s than to the video’s. That jet air looks dreamy!
I love this thread, by the way. Any video requests for this year?

Nicole, I like that “you can change your mind until it’s cut.” Lots of oppituinty for discussion and working out what you want 🙂
It looks like another day of summer storms. We’ve had about 1 a fortnight here for the last 6 weeks. I don’t rember so many summer storms other years.
I want to sew a small messenger bag, finish my bathers, sew a scarf…[Read more] -

I want to learn to sew with knits and install zippers.
I will sew something for myself that isn’t pajamas:-). The Sorbetto top is on my list if I can figure out how to do the FBA on a one-piece pattern…

I want to make the Bistro for me.
I need to make 3 pairs of Afterschool pants for my daughter. She loves that pattern and I love that I can fit her no butt, no waist, no hips body so that they actually STAY up and don’t flash butt crack.
I want to take time to really learn from my Craftsy classes to help with fit. (I got Joi’s Fit class, and…[Read more]

Reeni very clever of you. I used to teach a group of boys tap when I was still dancing. It worked the same way but my own lessons were the exchange. Love tap dancing!

This year creative projects include doing up the kids’ bedrooms – painting decorating in their style/preference.
Curtains for every window in the house!
Possibly a reno project but it depends on funds, there is a door in the sewing room that needs to be removed so that I can shift the wardrobe up a bit and put the doors on. We decorated the sewing…[Read more] -

I have so many projects to get to! a dear cousin-in-law is expecting after almost 8 years of trying, so it was a great excuse to buy the Lullaby Layette pattern; she’s interested in cloth diapering so there’s those too.
story of my life, i can never resist the remnant pile especially in the NY garment district… I buy random 5/8ths with no ideas…[Read more] -

haha not entirely altruistic! i like having an excuse to learn new crafty things and don’t often back down from a challenge. It started a few years ago; I was late signing dd up for recital and said that I’d take any extra costume they had and make it fit… from there they asked me to make 15 little Red Riding Hoods, then 6 Salt n Pepa silver…[Read more]

Much more relaxing then my threading method….which involves tweezers, me swearing a lot and the children advising each other to stay away from mum.

I had an annoying afternoon and thought I’d relax for a few minutes and watch a video on using my serger. This might have been … too relaxing.

thank you! To learn, just like with most things, I googled some tutorials and bugged the people at the art store! For this, since the shapes were big and geometric, and one color, it was pretty easy. I made stencils out of stencil plastic and mixed my own custom color paint — i’m not up to the fooling around with diazo emulsion/light-developed…[Read more]

@vothgirl, Hugo has printed me up a ‘rota’ that everyone fills in. The Twins change their minds a lot before I get to them but that is have the fun. Once it is cut, that is it.
I finally finished my cousins dress. It is beautiful and if I have fitted the muslin correctly, should fit like a glove.
It was a lot of work though. Lots of pieces,…[Read more] -
