In answer to your question Nicole, the biggies need everything! Miss Chloe just needs a few pretties in the 3-6 month size so they are ready but much more in the next size again – slow progress sewing.
It makes it very difficult when you have a little boy one minute then you see him literally growing in his sleep the next – my mother infuriated…[Read more]

@dubhels2003 I think she has a list she keeps and works from when she’s going to do one. I’ve already passed on the question to her.

maybe they’ll ship it for you? Although it seems like UK postage has gone way up lately. It cost me $60 to send a small box of Christmas gifts to my mother in law…[Read more]

@Todd This post had me thinking, is there going to be another ‘Ask Liesl’ blog posting? I was wondering which patterns surprised Liesl with their popularity or unpopularity? Which pattern has resulted in incredible interpretations which have changed her vision of what the pattern was in the first place? That’s so poorly worded, sorry, I am…[Read more]

I share your frustration about the lack of physical stores which sell non-mainstream patterns, especially as I live ‘ooop north’ and many of the online stores I buy from have physical stores down south. There are a number of online stores which have it in stock besides Eternal Maker and Backstitch – Village Haberdashery, Fabrimake, Fabric Godmother.

Thank you for the insight Todd that is most interesting. I shall pass on the information about Backstitch to my friend. Either that or convert her to digital LOL.

That pattern has just been an OK seller. It was only selling at about half the monthly volume we would need to see to justify a reprint. And it doesn’t sell very well in digital format.
People who sew it seem to really like it, but it’s probably our most difficult pattern. And that puts a lot of people off. Easier patterns always sell better than…[Read more]

Oh, that’s a good point — the PDFs can reach a wider audience. You probably know about this shop in Islington already but I remember seeing them there, maybe they’ll have it? http://www.raystitch.co.uk/

Thanks SO much for doing this! It’s downloaded, printed, and being colored in by my daughter right now – perfect for the “I’m bored” morning she’s having today.

Lightning McStitch replied to the topic What size muslin should I go with? in the forum oliver + s: fairy tale 10 years ago
Britteny’s right. The darts don’t start until the size 2T. Below that they’re left out ’cause most toddlers have bellies bigger than their chests.
I’d start with the 18-24m size and cut the lining fabric (assuming it’s a cotton voile or something not too fancy) and use that as a muslin. Baste it and if it fits then there’s your lining already cut. -
