Erin S started the topic Fit on Sunday Brunch in the forum oliver + s: sunday brunch 10 years ago
I’m hoping someone can provide some input on how the Sunday Brunch Jacket fits compared to other O+S patterns. I’ve put together the front and back yokes and front and back panels in a 2T (plus 1″ of added length in torso and sleeves) so far and it’s looking pretty small. My daughter is 21 months old; other than her height, her measurements align…[Read more]

This is a fun thread! Thanks for starting it, Nicole.:)
Hands down, the most worn O+S item in our house:

Dd’s most worn by far are the two circle-skirt long dresses based on Fairy Tale (who would have thunk). She has worn what she calls her tea dress at least 3 weeks out of 4 when she comes home from being in her school uniform… and the drop-waist version has shown up over/under other things when she should be in pants from the cold!
I’m glad…[Read more] -

i would only do french seams in the sleeve attachment if you are lining the bodice and skirt… basically the lining is like a second dress on the inside.

sasha started the topic 2+2 skort in the forum oliver + s: 2 + 2 10 years ago
I am going to turn the 2+2 skirt into a skort. My girls don’t care for the super short tight bike shorts that you can buy to wear under skirts. They ride up and they find that annoying. I have the badminton pattern. I am planning to use the shorts from the skort. Does anyone know if I need to extend the top of the short pattern a bit. I know the…[Read more]

I’ve made a beautiful midnight satin tea party dresse with matching shirred bloomers! It was so nice to just cut and sew!
I now have a lengthened playsuit cut out in green and black 🙂 -

Heirloom Sewing and Embroidery 10 years agoI have always thought the yoke on the playdate dress would lend itself well to pintucks sewn in a crosshatch design …. but then it lends itself well to all sorts of methods.
You could use tucks on the picnic top instead of gathers to see how that would work. Or make a feature panel on the library dress.
Deb, are you sure you don’t know how to…[Read more]

Heirloom Sewing and Embroidery 10 years agoWhenever possible, I use the tucked hem method on O+S patterns. On occasion, I’ve made 2 tucks on the hem and added embroidery on one of the tucks.
I’d like to see pin tucks on the Lullaby (onesie). You could figure out how much width to add to the front pieces saving me the effort (LOL!) because as you know my sewing room is in dispose.

Heirloom Sewing and Embroidery 10 years agoHi all! We’ve got an upcoming post over on the O+S blog about using the “heirloom technique” of tucks in Oliver and S Patterns. Not the ones that already have them….like the Family Reunion or Music Class…but thinking out of the box a bit more. Anyway, we’ve selected 2 O+S patterns to incorporate tucks within. QUESTION: Which patterns would you…[Read more]

Firstly, when did she become 6months?????? Gah, they grow too fast!
I’d say Class Picnic and Sleepover PJ’s get the most love here. Oh, and swingset tunic. Honestly, I’d make more 2+2, but I need to hunt down the larger set LOL. I also plan to make some Playdates, because those are perfect with leggings. I need to make some of my…[Read more]

The new Butterick Lisette patterns are featured at Jo-Ann fabrics–shelf top display and on the cover of the Butterick book. Congrats!
Also, Simplicity patterns are 5/$5 at Jo-Ann this long weekend–time to get the Lisette patterns you don’t have.
