  • Next time, you could cut a slit into the center back skirt and finish it with bias. No interfacing needed. Then align the bias under the placket. You can actually get a neater finish anyway because now you can more easily turn up the bodice lining and slip stitch or top stitch into place covering the wait seam allowance.

Do you mean underlining with flannel and then lining with something slippery? Or do you just mean underlining with flannel and no additonal lining? Because that will have the same sticky effect as lining, but you’ll also have lots of messy seams showing. You could line the body in flannel for warmth and the sleeves in slippery fabric so it can go…[Read more]

Jay I have no words of wisdom to add on the whole driving on the other side of the road thing as I have never done it! But I should think it will be a really great experience to be equipped with the knowledge of knowing how!

What do you do regarding obtaining an international driver’s license anyway? My nephew has just told us he applied for and…[Read more]

  • I’m back to working on the purple school days coat. It’s going to be very warm and cosy, courduroy, interlined with think fleece and a satin lining!

Welcome, Renee! I believe my grandma made most of her family’s clothes on one of those, and the motion was very hypnotic.

Don’t worry, you’ll get the hang of driving soon. I’m told that it’s the right turns that are trickiest, my friends who made the switch kept hitting the curb at first.

I’ve been having a lot of fun trying to sew as much as I can from my stash while I save up a bit for a trip to a friend’s wedding. Lodging in NY is just so expensive! And a chef…[Read more]

I’ve finished up the first of four gifts, and the next two should be pretty quick sews. I’m doing a lot of swatching for the fourth since I want to incorporate a few different small details I’ve been really liking. It’s funny how far from the original a given idea can evolve over time (and Pinterest). Right now I’m working on a certain style of…[Read more]

    Good thinking Heidi 🙂
I don’t have any fleece (very very limited stash of just the fabric I am planning to use very soon). If we go out I may get some. I’m still not driving though – I haven’t been brave enough to try driving on the wrong side of the car/road yet.

How lovely that Chloe is bringing back all the lovely baby-ness to your house…[Read more]

And pinch them they would! I remember being very intrigued by them as a littlie.

  • My new chooks are laying a dozen a day so I am making a lot of quiche type things. I fry up onions, garlic and chilli as a base and today added chicken breast, bacon and mushrooms. When that was crispy I poured over a dozen eggs beaten with 1/2 cup milk and a little SR flour blended in. Sprinkled with cheese and put the pan in the oven.

    Served…[Read more]

  • I finished 2 of the hats, one is a polar bear, the other a lion.
    The kids love them.

What a wonderful book, so many of the projects I’ve made from it have been wonderful
