When you sew the lining to the neck you would just need to copy the stitching line for the notched version onto the fabric- either the lining or on the reverse of the main. Then follow the rest of the directions. It should be an easy modification.

How big are they? if you sewed them together (maybe with a strip of canvas or denim to back) they would make a cool strap for a bag or overalls, or on a work apron.
or you could put them on a pilot’s cap.

Well, I think it is perfectly reasonable to suggest a spring dress in May, since it it spring in CA in May, and it is CA.
And since the wedding is indoors, it is unlikely to be cold, so a wool sweater, tights, and boots are likely unnecessary.

Sorry if this is really obvious to the North Americans, but why wouldn’t a red shawl work in May/spring? In Australia there aren’t really any guidelines for what colours to where at what time of year, although red and green together do say “Christmas”.
And why not tights and boots in spring if it’s still cold enough for them?
