Wow I never imagined it would be that cold in California! It doesn’t even get that cold here during the day in winter and I thought our weather was pretty similar.
I need to do poppers on the pj shirt and it is ready to wear tonight.
I want to cut a couple of bubble dresses out today with a view of sewing them during the week. -

She is 5, and her legs haven’t changed length in nearly 2 years. She’s extremely petite. So, I do need to figure this out, and sew clothing to last!

I still draft mine off, I dislike working with the stiff paper. I find the glued sheets fold nicely and I store them in a ziplock bag.
The paper sheets are far nicer to trace then tissue. -

How old is your daughter, by your description I am assuming a toddler? So she may only wear the garment for a short time?
If it was me, I would be researching which patterns are the best fit for that body shape, rather then altering a higher waisted pattern.
The After School pants are a brilliant fit, for example, maybe others could chime…[Read more]

Either or possibly both. It would be a rather extensive pattern though wouldn’t it if it were both.

One piece + tankini? Or maillot + coverup?

That is exactly how I want *my* pants to fit, (breathing room in front, plumber’s coverage in back) so although I regrettably don’t have a solution, I eagerly await the advice of others.

50F in California and I’d be wearing one of those red snowsuits polar explorers wear. 76-81F with little humidity. My system finds no other temperatures enjoyable.

I am trying to sew pants/skirts for my daughter, who prefers a “low-rider” style in front, so it pushes beneath her buddha belly (short-rise in front), but still needs to be higher in back.
I understand flat-pattern alterations, but cannot figure this out immediately. I can’t simply cut off part of the hem in front, as it would change the grain…[Read more]

Another pro digital: no tracing the original. Since you can print as many times as you like, you don’t have to trace the originals on tissue, parchment, swiss, freezer, or whatever paper. You can print, tape, and cut without worrying about nested sizes.

Yes a swimsuit would be ideal but it would have to include a boy version also.

I am FINALLY making a Hide and Seek tunic – of course, I bought the pattern in the smaller size and just realized that the kiddo is going to be out of a size 4 any second. Good thing this is a generous fit and I added a couple of inches in length…it’s coming along wonderfully; I’m using fabric from Tula Pink’s new line along with a ponte de…[Read more]

I’d sew the blazer too 🙂 A knit cardigan would be wonderful as well – they are my personal favorite thing to wear so my girls get new ones each year (store-bought). Now that I have dipped my toes into the waters of swimsuit sewing, it occurs to me that an O+S swimsuit pattern with a couple different views would be awesome …
