I can’t figure out how to link to an exact picture, but it’s the part where you sew the ruffle to the top, and my concern is with the edges (by the little stair-stepped edge). I just don’t know how far to sew. Just to the dot, or all the way to the edge? I finished the top, and am starting a second so I’ll fiddle with it again!

Fourth time lucky….
I tend to do my hand sewing as it eventuates. I used to have a lot of UFO’s and I am terrified of going back there.
I do have a DVD/TV combo in my sewing room though. At the moment I am working through Royal Pains when the children are running through and The Tudors when they are in bed 😉

I own all 7 seasons of Gilmore Girls on DVD! My husband pretends to hate it but if I have it on he always stops and watches. It is such a great show.

Darcy Struble replied to the topic Fabric sources? in the forum oliver + s: parachute polo + sweatpants 10 years ago
I would say check girlcharlee.com. I have purchased some great stuff on their website. It’s always hard to buy fabric online since you don’t know what it’s going to feel like. I haven’t purchased any fleece from them, though. I think fabric.com does some samples if you have the time (or patience) to wait for fabric samples to come. I bought a…[Read more]

Top of the Lake sounds awesome. Sounds like my husband would like that one too!
I tried watching Game of Thrones but I think I like the book better (not to be clique hahaha but because I get a little scared of action-y graphic-y stuff and when reading books, it’s only as graphic as your mind lets it be). But Ed is super into Game of Thrones! The…[Read more]

I am sorry it is not more clear.
Looking back at my pictures, which step are you up to?I remember this step being a bit fiddly but it helps you achieve a lovely under arm finish.

Oh I LOVE Gilmore Girls! It’s so amazing. When X and Y were in a fight my stomach hurt! Don’t want to say who in case of spoilers 🙂
Top of the Lake is about a cop uncovering dark secrets in her small town. It’s extremely intense, not necessarily everybody’s cup of tea, just FYI.
I love Mindy Project too, so funny.

I have been wondering about this a lot too! I have seen a few solid quilting weight cottons that fit the bill, but not much else other than knits! I know a lot of the Girl Charlee knits are made in the US (LA I think), and I know most of the Birch fabrics are organic and made in India. I wish there were more options! Thanks for sharing the NPR…[Read more]

‘Call the Midwife’ is also outstanding. Tho that’s about as close as I get to watching a “chick” show – I’m more of a Vikings/Game of Thrones kinda girl ;).

We’re really enjoying the Netflix series ‘Daredevil’. ‘Longmire’ is a huge favorite of mine (I’m SO happy Netflix picked it up after its cable network was stupid enough to drop it!,) and season 3 hits Netflix May 1st (the new season 4 will release this fall). And it’s not on Netflix, but ‘Wolf Hall’ (Masterpiece Theatre) on PBS is excellent!

@Nicole, I did use your tutorial yesterday! It was so helpful for the placket bit. Thank you for putting that together!! I’m still not clear on how far to sew the seam that attaches the ruffle portion at the ends. I tried sewing all the way to the end on one side, and tried stopping at the dot on the other. Neither way seems exactly wrong, so I’m…[Read more]

I think the Mindy Project is on Netflix too! I’ll check that out! What chick shows do you like? I sometimes make my husband suffer through the Vampire Diaries and Gilmore Girls haha

Sarvi, love this! I love NPR. I’m pretty sure this was the exact story that my husband listened to that caused him to start buying jeans from companies where they make them themselves (right here in North Carolina, actually). And he makes me make his t-shirts and button downs. I’m not complaining to much 😉

Oh, and here’s something else — I have bought color cotton yardage from Raystitch, and I really loved it. The colors were very soft and beautiful, and the fabric felt lovely. Very high quality.
