Sewed up a pair of lengthened Sunny Day shorts in chambray with embroidered anchors and a Colette Sorbetto top for me, me, ME!!!
The lengthened Sunny Day shorts don’t want to be sewn in navy linen. This makes twice now. For the sake of my sanity, I’m going to respect their decision.
Ruffled halters are up next…

Kim, thanks so much for sharing this.I just visited their web page. What a great sale and the proceeds go to a local non profit, what a great idea for helping each other. It’s too late for me to participate this year but I have just started a box to have ready to donate for next year’s sale as we are only about half hour drive from the VT border.…[Read more]

Do a size 4 with a FBA and go out to a 10 at the hips. I don’t have the cappuccino pattern but I do have the similar Portfolio and there is plenty of ease in the waist area (you might want to double check the finished measurements just in case)that you do not need to grade to 16. You should do a muslin.

Someone with more experience than me is going to answer you I’m sure. View A is not the easiest pattern to adjust because of the 2 layers, but it can be done. View B might be easier. I think you need to start at a 4, do an FBA and grade out the bottom of the pattern to a size 16. Try on the muslin and make your second round of adjustments from…[Read more]

Hello! I’m sewing Cappuccino tunic for my aunt and need help with the size.
Should I choose the size based on high bust or full bust for this pattern? High bust is size 4, full bust size 8 and she has B cup (5cm difference between high/full bust).
Also her waist is size 16 but hip is size 10. So should I use size 10 or 16 when grading?

In an earlier post someone wrote about a big sale of sewing and knitting items in their city. If anyone lives in New England there is a destash fabric and yarn sale, this weekend, at White River Yarns in White River Junction, VT. The Amtrak train station is across the street from the sale. http://www.whiteriveryarns.com/

I just made this pattern (love it) I had the same question but looking very closely at the illustrations on the instruction page I could see that I wasn’t going crazy. The cape is a great fit and my daughter has worn it everyday since I finished it. 😀 I’m keen to make the mummy version now.

I recently purchased the lovely blue and white floral Japanese lawn from spotlight. I got it on sale and now my daughter has requested another roller skate dress and she picked out the floral. It will be on Flickr when completed. My local spotlight seems to have lots of lawn, plain and patterned.

I was in Spotlight yesterday @Wagyu Burger amd couldn’t even get the pram down the aisle it was that junked up with stuff! I have already made one complaint about it. It doesn’t look good to have that much stock crammed into a tiny space because as you say, it can’t be seen! Besides it looks untidy also.
I didn’t get to see any lawn but will have…[Read more]

I do wish they would sell fabric online! The last time I made my way to a Spotlight, there was so much stock that I couldn’t see/find anything! I had seen some lawn in the catalogue, and when I asked the shop assistants where they were, I was told they were scattered throughout the section.

Okay I have done a rough sketch to illustrate what I mean. I use the gathers/ease on tops that don’t take darts so well. Now it does not have to be gathered, if it isn’t much it can be eased in be stretching the pieces to fit in that area. Working out how much can be a bit tricky. Looking in the mirror and lifting the top up at the bra band…[Read more]

To me it looks like you need a bust dart or equivalent to get rid of those diagonal folds (or whatever the technical name is) running up the side.
Whether you need more around will depend on how tight/loose you like to wear your tops.
