Helena, my three older kids all had the chicken pox about 16 months ago; my son was only a year old at the time. He had a very mild case – and in general I have heard that the younger ones do better. He was just a little cranky, ran a fever for a day or two, and didn’t seem to be bothered by the actual pox very much. My then-4-year-old was…[Read more]

  • I made my fist Swing Set skirt today. WOW! I love this skirt. Twirly, girly, only 4 pattern pieces and I added a shirred waist so I didn’t have to thread all the elastic. I can see myself making lots more 🙂

@dubhels2003 I am sorry for her. I can remember Chicken Pox and bathing with a calico sachet of oats in the water.

I am heading to the city so shall have good internet for the day but not for a fun reason. Lidia (11) is having vision problems and I ranG her ophthalmologist and he wanted to see her ASAP.
Fingers crossed it is just a lens adjustment.

Probably. I know it is huge in some European royal families to have their children wear smocked clothing – Netherlands comes to mind there. I love his little outfit he is wearing in the photo.

It would be fun to see how he is dressed as he grows.

  • No not too much at all! It would be adorable!

Looks terrifc Nicole and I am so glad she is living in it as that means it was worth the trouble of sewing it for her (not that it would be trouble at all).

I have a parachute polo cut out of city weekend interlock that I want to sew this weekend. I have already made a pair of parachute pants and they are so cute and very worthy of two hours at…[Read more]

@EllenMCM it was a really good sew.
I used the Lisette blog sew-a-long method and bagged the lining. I had started with the paper pattern but got stuck on the zipper insertion. The paper pattern is incorrect.
Once I went to the blog I zoomed along.
It was 6 hours sewing time and I altered the waist for Zara (15). I think it would be good to alter…[Read more]

Nicole, how is the moto jacket to sew? And, do you happen to know if it’s easy to alter? I’ve been giving that a lot of consideration as a possible wardrobe piece. In my fabulous homemade wardrobe that so far exists only in my head.

I’m extremely frustrated with my attempts to fit the Sewaholic Granville – I’ve got the boobs right, I think,…[Read more]

Hello Karen, your butterfly skirt in particular sounds gorgeous. I’ve been eyeing up a couple of things sewn with large floral prints, have you posted a pic in the Flickr group? I’m going to go hunt for it when I manage to stop feeding the baby and get down to the lap too!
