@lightningmcstitch is correct. This is one pattern that needs to fit well in the girth. Get the smaller size.
(And make a muslin bodice)

I would do as you suggest but sew one side of your collar to the jacket ( the under collar) and the upper collar to your facing/lining.
Then sew those together

I woudl rather have just the collar coming to the edge of the jacket, but can i…[Read more]

i have similarly large headed kids (15th percentile height/weight, over 98th for head size) and never had a problem with the hood fitting (and i need to tailor their polo shirts because they dont fit over their heads).

You’ve got it. There’s a photo that shows snaps going into a coat here: http://bartacksandsingletrack.blogspot.com.au/2013/07/a-pattern-to-make-product-to-be-proud-of.html?m=0
Hope that helps. -

You know what to do!
Get the smaller size and make a nicely fitted dress with length added where needed.
Enjoy! -

I think that would be perfect! I am aiming for a family photo this year (with me in it as well) so I am really wanting to make everyone’s Christmas outfit. I still need to decided on my husband’s now. He doesn’t do dress up shirts so I thinking of a Henley with dress pants. Maybe navy blue knit?

My daughter is 3 years old and wears a size 4T (she is tall and has broad shoulders, but is only 31 pounds). Height-wise, she is tall enough for the size 5. I’m not sure if I should get the pattern size 5-12 and risk it being a little big on her (how hard is it to take in?), or just get the 6m to 4 and know that she will size out of it within a…[Read more]

All right – I’ve started. I finished the hood last night, and I already love the way it looks.
I’m using magnetic snaps, but I have a question I’m hoping someone can answer – when do I apply them? They’re the type with two prongs that get inserted through the fabric, rather than the sew-on variety. That being the case, I should apply them to the…[Read more]

How about tan vests and deep purple silk ties? They can coordinate without being too matchy.

Thank you for those links Sarvi! Yes the three older boys are wanting a “grown up” look now. Makes me very sad to think that they have grown so.
Sarah’s dress is a deep purple color with pinks, tans and cream colors in it so we are going for a more non traditional colors. I love the idea of silk bow tie for all the three younger boys.
