I spoke too soon! The power went kaput right in the middle of overlocking a pocket😕

With the kids fed and watered early tonight, I might be able to get into the sewing room.

I have decided everyone in the immediate family will receive a clothing parcel from me this year, to boost up the closet choice and to save time on trying to find something else.

They will each get a pair of pj’s (boys will have sleep shorts)
    and an outfit…[Read more]

Oh hilariously funny! It is good to have a chuckle at all this.

When my son was born I was listing off all the things this boy was going to learn from me, to my mil. She fairly laughed! But you know save for a few things that he is yet to learn, we are doing alright. I may yet one day make any prospective daughter in law of mine very proud!

    The…[Read more]

I am fine with a cheap iron. Nicer irons have lept off a wobbly ironing board to meet an early demise.

I just spit out my drink laughing.

It feels good to have so many feminists support me through this difficult loss.

  • I tried the ‘print at copy shop’ option (they only do up to AO size) and the “Gallery tunic” 2nd and 3rd last pages worked awesome after i stepped her through the process and insisted it was 100% not ‘to fit’. However, I was unable to print my “weekend getaway” and “everyday skirt” as it required 36″ printer. Any plans on updating older pattern…[Read more]

I hate my Rowenta, despite using it with a spray bottle and thus not having any leaking/spitting issues, because it sometimes gets so scorchingly hot that even linen immediately burns. My next iron will be a cheapie.

My own stuff is never ironed because I don’t care, my child’s always is because I do care, and my husband is so handsome I’ve…[Read more]

My husband gave me a Rowenta and a double-wide ironing board for Christmas one year. I was so thrilled!

  • Thanks, folks. That’s exactly what I needed to know. Plackets it shall be!

    @scgoble I completely agree!

Yes I have handed most of my (used) Guterman threads to Imogen for her to sew with, now that we have a nearby Rasant stockist. I just wish I could find better overlocking thread😕

That sounds challenging but in a good way Brenda.
I was reading and article recently that working on challenging projects may help prevent dementia. I cannot think of a nicer prevention.

I made some taslon Class Picnic shorts for Matilda’s end of year concert, last night (they are doing a Beach Boy medley) I had so much trouble with them and then…[Read more]

  • The back placket will extend the life of the garment. Lidia wore her for years past its ‘correct’ size as she could shimmy into it with the placket open.

Don’t take my ironing from me, it is how I sort my world!

A basket of crispy cotton and linen, dried in the sunshine, pressed smooth and hung on beautiful coat hangers and put away.

I would never get to watch telly if I didn’t iron 😉
