Thanks @lightningmcstitch and @liesl it makes perfect sense. In fact I found a tutorial that actually pictorially explains it so all I need now is some time to actually implement it. Thanks again and yes pics are on there way too.

I think @lightningmcstitch is on the right track. Basically, you’ll cut off the top half of the sleeve cap and leave enough to hem the top edge. The you’ll add a bias facing to the upper armhole to finish it. It’s like the Partial Cap Sleeve in the Building Block Dress book, except the bias facing is at the top of the armhole instead of the…[Read more]

Just bought the “Inspector Gadget” coats from Farmhouse. Nicely set out website, and some sweet fabrics. Thank F and S for your suggestion.

I found a pattern for the smaller sizes of the Sailboat top/pants/skirt on ebay, thanks to your recent posts, ladies. Thank you. The pattern should be arriving from Queensland very soon, and consequently, the postage was extra reasonable.

You are very welcome, Deanna! One of the many joys of this forum is the inspiration provided/creativity sparked by our discussions. I’ll look forward to seeing your treat bags; I finally traced off the pattern, yesterday. Must get a move on!

Oooh, what a fun puzzle.
I haven’t made or worn a “cold shoulder” top so I can’t help with where the opening should start.
The notches of the sleeve head might be a bit high? Maybe 1/2″ below that.
I also wonder if you shouldn’t then bring the shoulder – the open edge of the shoulder that is, in a little. A similar adjustment to what you do if…[Read more] -

Hi,
My fourteen year old announced to me that she would like me to make her a cold shoulder top to wear for a themed dinner at the end of the month. I have seen one put out by stylearc which looks to her liking. I really would like to use an existing tshirt pattern in my stash, namely the metro which is tried and trued where sewing for the teen is…[Read more] -

I want to thank @needlewoman for the idea of using the drawstring bag as a trick-or-treat bag. I was contemplating making a trick-or-treat bag for my kids but was undecided about what tutorial, etc. to follow. But hey! I have this pattern already, and it seams like it would be a reasonable size. Thanks everyone!

I would happily use cotton twill for this jacket. One of the fabrics the pattern suggests is flannel and I wouldn’t expect cotton twill to be much, if any thicker than flannel.

Can one side of the jacket be made using cotton twill? I bought a lovely twill fabric, but am unsure if it would be suitable for this design.

@with_love_Heidi Thanks, I was close to giving up on this one but once I sacrificed the sleeve going in perfectly it was going to work.
@sarvi Thank you.
@lightningmcstitch Thank you.
I am wearing the top today so maybe I can get a better photo.

I took the children to “railfest” this past weekend, an exhibiton day that is held by the volunteers of the Rail museum in our local capital city. Whilst there we took some time out to play in the small playground before heading home again. My 21 month old hasn’t had a lot to do with playgrounds so was watching some children slightly older than…[Read more]

An Etsy seller based in Montana has 50% off quite a few Oliver + S patterns (nearly all the smaller sizes, but some older ones in there)
