Lovely simple lines with extensive help available for alterations
Reviewed by June ( Verified Buyer) on 03/02/2023
I made this in a special print fabric- I wanted it to be the showpiece. I also wanted a simple a-line dress that could be hacked later if I wanted, e.g. colour blocking. I needed to move the dart down quite a bit, used a larger size for the armhole [ I often need a large bicep adjustment] and had to do a large bust adjustment. I particularly liked the instructions for the bust adjustment- so good. While I would prefer not to have to do so many adjustments, I am happy with the final outcome and the dress looks good.

      Currently my favourite dress.

I would describe myself as an advanced beginner/ intermediate. I chose my size based on the finished measurements. For fabric I used a solid Teal linen-viscose mix.... I thought a plain fabric would show off the Obi belt best. The pattern was unproblematic to download and to tape together. Liesl & Co writes THE BEST INSTRUCTIONS I've come across. The pattern came together very easily and needed no alterations. I get LOTS OF COMPLIMENTS every time I wear it. I love that it has POCKETS.... clothing should always have useable pockets. I my opinion LIESL & CO ARE THE BEST PATTERNS for people learning to sew. I wish the patterns listed the skills to learn from each pattern as I'm using them as building blocks on my quest to become a competent sewist.

      Beautiful Terrace Dress
Reviewed by Andrea G ( Verified Buyer) on 02/18/2022
I made my Terrace dress in a tightly woven lightweight cotton and it is absolutely delightful, both with and without the belt (which I lightly interfaced and contrast piped). The dress fits and hangs beautifully. I'm not usually a fan of cut-on sleeves, but these really work. The only niggle I had with the pattern was that I'm not sure the hem on the sleeve is quite drafted as I would expect (ie to match back to the sleeve itself) - but I have read of people who hem the sleeve before sewing the side seam to get around this.

      easy pattern, cute dress!
Reviewed by Sarah ( Verified Buyer) on 03/18/2021
I made this as part of an online class with Butcher's Sew Shop & it was a great first step into garment making for someone who had just been making face masks & hemming curtains for the last year. The only weird thing was that the supplies list includes fusible interfacing, but there are no instructions for using this in the pattern.
The interfacing is used for stabilizing the pockets which are optional. If you choose to include the pockets in the dress, you will use the interfacing when prompted in the sewing instructions. But if you opt to make the dress without pockets, you will not need the interfacing.

      My first flawless dress !

Very much liked the pattern, excellent instructions (especially for a beginner like me), and a breeze to order it (digital download). I wish they would have more patterns for adults though. Made it in a very light mint green, slightly longer at the hem. And got lots of compliments !

Beautiful dress! Your directions, as always, are excellent. I made this dress for my (adult) daughter and she loved it. Most of the patterns I buy are yours because the directions are excellent and the clothing finishes are so beautiful. You are my first choice always!

      Versatile dress
Reviewed by Elin ( Verified Buyer) on 01/08/2020
This dress went together quickly for me. I originally made it as a warm weather wedding dress, but it is perfect for dressing up and down for more frequent wears. I had the same problem expressed in other reviews with the hem on the underside is the short sleeve - I just couldn't get it to turn over, so it's a bit messy there (but not at all visible). I'd love to see an adjustment offered for that area of the pattern, or to see Liesl's suggestion for how to address it.

      Lovely Summer Dress
Reviewed by Cathlene ( Verified Buyer) on 07/17/2018
The dress went together quickly and looks very professional. I love it! I did some blending between sizes to fit my pear shape XS at bust, M at waist to XL at hips (will probably go to a L at hips in the next version).

I really enjoyed working with this sewing pattern. I made View A and I absolutely love it. Ever¡thing in the pattern comes together nicely, and, as with any other pattern from Liesl, you get the extra bonus learning some techniques to make it look good and professional on the inside too. I absolutely recommend it. A winner.
