      Nice fit
Reviewed by Mary vT ( Verified Buyer) on 08/24/2022
These pants have a slightly different cut than some other patterns, and the leg shape is neither extremely wide or narrowed like sweatpants. i wanted a simple, unfussy look with a good fit, so some of the details were eliminated; the slits at the bottom of the leg and a bit of the taper, the drawstring because of the lump that it makes in front, and the fro t patch pockets. Because the fabric used was a lighter weight linen, the elastic is does the job without a drawstring. The end result is simple and comfortable. I will be making a menswear-look vest with front pockets to wear with it. may very well make this pattern again with the front pockets or cargo pockets.

I love this pattern. It is literally perfect. I have made pants, short, and I even made super cute jammie pants using it.

      Great summer pants
Reviewed by Susan ( Verified Buyer) on 01/14/2021
Very easy to make, sized just a little larger than I'd like but probably preferred extra room for most. I used a lightweight twill, and love the pants. I plan to make at least one more pair.

My favourite trousers for everyday, all year!
Reviewed by Michelle aka @michellethemama on Instagram ( Verified Buyer) on 01/08/2021
These trousers are fantastic for my life. They are super comfy without feeling sloppy. They nicely suit a stay-at-home day, but I don't feel like I need to change to dash out on a few errands. They can be dressed up or down and made in so many different light to medium weight wovens. I see many linen pairs in my future but also want to try a light weight quilting cotton as I often find myself wishing fashion fabrics had the same selection of prints as the quilters enjoy. Love these!

      I agree!
Reviewed by Phyllis ( Verified Buyer) on 10/30/2020
As other reviewers say, this was an excellent pattern that resulted in a pair of comfortable "house pants" that can also be worn outside. Easy to make, good fit. I've had this pattern for a while and only recently got around to making it; I've already purchased fabric for my next pair.

      Good night!
Reviewed by SusanC ( Verified Buyer) on 09/18/2020
This pattern really fits my style which is "flexible, comfortable, and ready for adventure". I bought some fabric for the trousers and plan to add a cargo pocket on the side for my phone, as modeled by one of the Advisory Circle. However I found a knit fabric I loved and decided to first use Ericka's post to make sleep shorts. That worked great and I love them! Pants are next, but first I'm off to test out my shorts again.....

      Good First (Adult) Trousers Pattern
Reviewed by Rachel ( Verified Buyer) on 06/12/2020
This was my first time sewing adult trousers, although I have made a few Oliver + S Art Museum and Sketchbook trousers. The instructions were clear. I did muslin first and had to adjust somewhat at the waist - I do have a wider waist due to 3 cesareans. Otherwise the fit was great. Love the elastic leg option, and the clear markings to make lengthen/shorten easy.

Easy to sew and comfortable to wear!
Reviewed by Gayatri ( Verified Buyer) on 06/09/2020
These are the perfect 'work from home' pants - comfortable and easy to wear but a step above sweatpants or leggings! I make a 'wearable muslin' without the welt pockets and shorted the hem considerably to make them capri length, but they came together really nicely. I definitely will make them again, with a welt pocket this time to practice a new sewing skill!

      Montauk Trousers
Reviewed by Geraldine Van de Kleut ( Verified Buyer) on 05/25/2020
This is an exceptional pattern, as I have found all of the patterns written by Liesl to be. The instructions for the welt pockets are the best I have seen, and the finishing details are clear, professional, and beautiful. The trousers fit according to measurements and wear very well.

Montauk Trousers - a tried and true pattern in the making!
Reviewed by Susan W on 05/13/2020
As expected, 'easy to sew and even easier to wear'. These trousers come together very well, thanks to Liesl's clear written instructions. The rear welt pockets take a bit of time to complete; they make these trousers look less casual. They are optional so if you want a quicker project, leave them off. The front pockets are generous and hold a cell phone very easily. The slit openings in the leg hems are a good detail and are not difficult at all to sew. These trousers are as comfortable to wear as sweat pants and look much more polished. Another great pattern Liesl! I will make them again and again I am sure.

  • In this video, Liesl introduces you to the Montauk Trousers pattern.

Oops, I just realized that I said "waistband" instead of "ankle" regarding the elastic in the third trouser. Sorry about that.
