      Very cute dress
Reviewed by Eleanor ( Verified Buyer) on 04/14/2018
I am a fairly novice sewer. I've made this (View A, omitting the piping) and the Seashore Sundress from Oliver + S. They're similar in a lot of ways, but I found the way the bodice was assembled for this pattern to be much more fiddly than on the Seashore Sundress. If I get brave, I may try assembling it the other way. For new sewers, I would recommend a patterned fabric for the bodice as that will hide a wobbly topstitch better than a solid color fabric (lesson learned for next time!).

Nice result, lots of curves to sew tho!
Reviewed by J Scott ( Verified Buyer) on 11/17/2017
As with other Oliver+S patterns, the procedure and instructions are lovely and clear and the end result is a great little item. Lots of curves to sew though - and when you think you've finished with them, you still have the hem facing to go! I had a moderately stiff wax cloth to use and it worked well with this pattern, but when doing another dress I might choose a pattern with fewer curves to sew.

      So sweet
Reviewed by Nicole ( Verified Buyer) on 08/22/2017
I've made the dress and bloomers from this pattern. They are incredibly sweet. I love that the bloomers can be made from a fat quarter in the smaller sizes. I found the instructions clear and mostly what I expect from Oliver and S patterns. I wonder, though, if it needs an update. Some elements appear to be missing, such as snap tape as an optional purchase is not mentioned in the notions and the fabric recommended was far too much (I'll have enough to made the playsuit so it's not wasted!). The size I made (6-12 m) seems enormous. I love the pattern though and will happily make more from the pattern as my daughter grows.

Playsuit is my go to baby boy pattern
Reviewed by Elizabeth ( Verified Buyer) on 03/14/2017
I love this pattern. The playsuit is my go to pattern for gifts and for myself when sewing for little boys. I've sewn both the dress and the playsuit in multiple sizes and love the quickness of the projects. I ended up purchasing the larger size, anticipating the need to make this for years to come.

      Fantastic pattern
Reviewed by Tamara ( Verified Buyer) on 12/13/2016
I have made several dresses and rompers in my time but this pattern takes the cake! I first used the Teaparty party pattern when sewing for my (then unborn) youngest daughter. It was the first Oliver and s pattern she wore and we have loved it ever since. I have recently bought the larger size range and out of this have so far made three dresses and a playsuit. There will be many more to come from the very straightforward and easy to put together pattern that you too will simple adore over and over again.

      Tea Party Sundress
Reviewed by Elise Mauldin on 08/22/2016
I made this dress for one of my great-nieces. The instructions are easy to follow and understand. Without my niece as a model, I had to just hope it would fit her and it did! The bloomers were easy, too. I made it out of brand new Tag table linens because I like to repurpose things. She loved it! I love Oliver + S patterns - they are all I want to use now. I added piping and that was equally easy to do and it put a pop of color in the dress. The dress flares really prettily. IMG_1024.JPG

      Highly recommended for making bloomers
Reviewed by Anne ( Verified Buyer) on 05/24/2016
I bought this pattern for making bloomers; hence I can only review that part. However, since the instructions for the bloomers were super clear I suspect the rest of the pattern will be likewise. I am a beginner sewist and I had no trouble following the pattern. I did struggle a bit with the elastic around the legs, but that was probably primarily due to my own inexperience and not so much the pattern instructions. In fact, I found some additional information on this website on applying bias band and making an elastic waistband. Overall, I am a happy customer and would highly recommend this pattern for anyone interested in a clear pattern for bloomers.

      Such Beautiful Results...but measure first!
    Reviewed by Kelly on 03/13/2015
This is my second Oliver + S pattern I have sewn with and, as anticipated, the finished result is beautiful. However, I wish I had measured my girls before I made the dresses. I just went with the sizes on the back, and ended up with two dresses that are way too big for my girls. I think I will be able to alter them down, but I could have saved myself a lot of trouble from the get go.

      My Go-To Baby Gift
    Reviewed by Nicole on 04/11/2014
Tea Party, oh how do I love thee? This is the sweetest little girl dress you can imagine.I have lost count how many I have made. Fifteen dresses at least and some teeny tiny baby boy rompers. I quite like to line the skirt, it disguises the raw edges and really encourages the 'fit and flare' nature of the skirt. You may like a peep http://www.pinterest.com/pin/73676143873954745/ The instructions are perfect. This is the epitome of the beginners sewers starter pattern. Not to mention how thrilled you will be with your results. Enjoy! I know I always do.

      Great Intro into O+S
    Reviewed by pippi on 09/01/2013
This was my first Oliver+S pattern. I love the flared shape of this little dress. It looks especially adorable in the 2T-3T sizes. There are so many options with the different panels and piping. The curvy bodice can be a little tricky at first, but after your 2nd or 3rd time making this pattern it will come together in a snap. It is also a great option to make for girls or boys (playsuit).

You'll always remember your first love.
    Reviewed by Sarvi on 07/03/2013
And this one was mine. I remember sweating bullets over the tricky curve of the bodice, as I had zero former sewing experience. The first one or two were a little bumpy, but by following along with the instructions, which magically seemed to always know just where I was likely to get stuck, I wound up with an amazing result that made me feel so proud that just a few years later, I now make almost all of my daughter's clothes. It's only after sampling non-O&S patterns that I realize how incredibly lucky I was that these were my first patterns. Each one is like taking a course from somebody who wants to ground you in solid technique that will free you to make anything you can imagine. Worth the price even if it included no pattern at all, this one includes the sweet and swingy sundress/pinafore that gives you a lot of great spots for adding trim or using contrasting panels. If you are like me, you probably buy fabric first because it's cute and worry later about what you'll make -- here's your chance to have fun with all your cute stuff.

  • Errata

Please note that this error has been corrected in the digital version of this pattern. This note applies only to the printed version of the pattern.

    1. The first printed version of this pattern contained a small error in the fabric requirements chart. The requirements for the Sundress Skirt should read as follows:

      0-3M 3-6M 6-12M 12-18M 18-24M 2T 3T 4T 5T
      3/4 yd 3/4 yd 1 yd 1 yd 1 yd 1 yd 1 yd 1 yd 1 yd

    Determining Which Printing You Have

As errata are discovered, they are marked for correction in subsequent printings of the pattern. To determine which printing of an instruction sheet or pattern sheet you have, look at the copyright box which appears on each. Toward the bottom of the box, there is a series of numbers.

The lowest number you see there indicates which printing you have. For example, if the lowest number in the box on the instruction sheet is "2," you have an instruction sheet from the second printing. Any errors in the instructions mentioned for the first printing have been corrected in your version. If the lowest number in the box on the pattern sheet is "1," you have a copy of the pattern sheet from the first printing.

Pattern sheets and instructions sheets can be printed separately, so be sure to check the errata notices for pattern pieces against the printing number on the pattern sheet and errata notices for instructions against the printing number on the instruction sheet.
