    Description

The Lisbon Cardigan is your everyday essential. Perfect for layering, you can wear the Lisbon Cardigan over a blouse, a T-shirt or a dress. Keep one in your carry-all purse so you will never again feel chilly in air-conditioned offices, restaurants and movie theaters. With two sleeve options and two length options, you can customize the cardigan based on your preference.

    Lisbon Cardigan features:

    • Regular and cropped bodice options
    • 3/4 and long sleeve length options
    • Buttoned front
    • Layers feature (print only the sizes you need)

    Suggested Fabrics

Primary Fabric: Use light-weight knit fabric with at least 50% stretch. If your knit fabric has more or less stretch, you may need to use a smaller or larger size. Jersey, sweater knit and double knit are great choices. A lace that does not tear easily can be used for the Front panels, as shown in the sample garment. Crochet lace is a good choice. Interfacing: Use light-weight knit or tricot fusible interfacing.

    Notions

    • Six (6) 5/8" (1.6 cm) buttons for the cropped length
    • Seven (7) 5/8" (1.6 cm) buttons for the regular length
    • 6" (15 cm) of 3/8" or 1/2" (1 cm or 1.25 cm)-wide straight fusible stay tape (or you may cut your own using light-weight woven fusible interfacing on the straight grain)

    Choosing your Size

    • Compare your bust circumference (fullest part) to the “Body Measurements” table. Choose the size that best fits your bust. If you are between sizes, choose the smaller size if you like your garment more fitted; otherwise, choose the bigger size.
    • Compare your waist circumference (narrowest part) to the “Body Measurements” table. Choose the size that best fits your waist. If you are between sizes, choose the smaller size if you like your garment more fitted; otherwise, choose the bigger size.
    • Compare your hip circumference (widest part) to the “Body Measurements” table. Choose the size that best fits your hips. If you are between sizes, choose the smaller size if you like your garment more fitted; otherwise, choose the bigger size. Note that if you choose to make the cropped version, the hip measurement is irrelevant since the cardigan does not extend to the hips.
    • It’s OK to use different sizes for the bust, waist and hip. All you have to do is print the sizes that you need, and blend the lines from one size to the next. See “Printing Instructions” and “Blend Sizes” in the instructions.
    • If you are taller than 5’7” (170 cm) or shorter than 5’4” (163 cm), you should consider lengthening or shortening the bodice and/or sleeves (see “Lengthen/Shorten” in the instructions).
    • It is highly recommended that you check your fit by making a test garment with inexpensive fabrics that have similar weight and stretch as your final garment fabrics.
