I thought I had step by step photos of this, but can’t seem to find them. I think Patricia (whose screen name I’ve forgotten, sorry!) has a pic of the Cinema side panel pattern piece, where the adjustment happens, slashed and spread.

Hi @hazel , I did a FBA on the Late Lunch tunic, there a some pics here http://fiveandcounting-motherof5.blogspot.com.au/2014/09/fba-all-way.html which may help you visualise the adjustment to the Cinema dress.
Sorry not to be more help.

@hazel hello, the short answer is B cup. The longer, and very well written answer is in this blog post:
It details how to find the right size for your shoulders, and then adjust the bust accordingly.
Hope that helps. -

Thanks @cybele727 I went on a mad monochrome cutting spree. Butterick skirt and top for me, play date dress, jump rope dress and swingset skirt and top for my daughter.
So far the Playdate is sewn… -

Hi All.
I thought I’d bump this up to remind everyone who is doing the monochrome project that we are nearing the “reveal” date.

But becareful of what you use to mark the pleats. Make sure it is washable. I wouldn’t know anything about that! 🙂

Oh, and yes, you will need your pleat markings on the right side of the dress, otherwise they’re lost under the facing when it comes time to make the pleats.

@cellisttoo I’ve made one with a bias bound facing and it works fine. There’s a picture of the insides on this blog post if it helps: http://bartacksandsingletrack.blogspot.com.au/2014/03/first-birthdays.html?m=0
You’re right, both the dress and the facing get pleated together. I didn’t find the bias binding caused a problem but mine was a cotton…[Read more] -

Girlfriend, if we lived closer I would be shoving my kid into your hand-me-down stream practically by force and would be only too happy to hand down any of our goodies that appeal.

I happily buy ‘good’ second hand shoes for my girls as they have generally been worn only lightly and the previous owner has not changed the foot bed of the shoe. I have also purchased second hand Saltwater sandals and let my girls wear them in the sea and then walk around until they are dry so they soften and shape to their foot.
Older shoes I…[Read more]

@katybellabug it is way too fast 🙁
I finished the Lisette Attache peplum top in neoprene (scuba knit) for Elsa.
It was a great fabric to sew but not fun to unpick, the stitches ‘sunk in’. I did make a calico muslin first and also did the petite adjustment and scooped out the neck…[Read more] -

Wow it’s been a while since I posted here! Summer has been busy and I’ve been sewing less. I’m finally starting on the Lisette Moto dress I cut out months ago in Cotton + Steel rayon, I need to finish it before the weather cools down!
Once that’s done I’ve got a couple Gallery tunics and Ben’s Goldstream pea coat next in the queue, along with…[Read more]

I donate our old ones to a local church thrift store. They sell locally what they can and send the others that are still useable, but maybe not sellable, to poorer countries where they give them for free.

As parents quickly learn, small children’s shoes are outgrown while there’s still a lot of life left in them. Depending on habits (at one point, my daughter was using the top of the toe as a brake when tricycling, ruining shoes quickly) and frequency of wear (during the school year only two pairs of shoes get much wear) the shoes might be…[Read more]
