I just cut out another one of these for myself, and I lengthened it by a bit for winter. To do this, you’ll simply splice the pattern at the lengthen-shorten line and add the desired amount of length at that spot. Be sure to lengthen all the relevant pieces by the same amount (don’t forget the facing!), and keep the grain line matched up as you…[Read more]

@motherof5 @with-love-heidi No blog post yet but there will be one sometime soonish. I used this pattern. They turned out really cute but I found the pattern directions really confusing.

Thank you @justsewit and @lightningmcstitch, I thought it was the piano?
I love school hols. No packed lunches but the food! Three loaves of bread yesterday and one child wasn’t home!

I have not lengthened this skirt @ginny3w but I lengthen one similar for my girls.
I cut and added length at the hip.
I would caution adding too much length as I think it would spoil the line of the skirt.
Perhaps think about your styling? Black opaque tights are great if you are concerned about flashing your knickers.
As for you age, it matters…[Read more] -

@sanitystitches I haven’t but I did talk someone through it (can’t remember who though, sorry).
We decided it would be best to cut and add length at about 4 inches from the cuff to keep the nice shape of the sleeve.
It has a bit of a bias thing going on so it may need trying and tweaking before you hem it.I hope that helps.

Sewed a pair of slippers for my sister for Christmas last night. Going to make another pair for my other sister. I also have two more American Girl doll dresses to make, and then a red ponte skirt for myself to wear for Christmas.

Hope all goes well Tamara, your comment about his limited range of movement pre and post surgery reminded me of an old Spike Milligan joke:
To paraphrase: “Doc, when the cast comes off, will I be able to play the violin?… Yes?…. Wonderful, I never could before”
The last time I was reminded of that joke was when I had a 9 week old baby about to…[Read more] -

Oh @justsewit I am so sorry to hear all this. Farm work is so important and dangerous. Would that I knew a way to help from across the world.

I have two bags to make over the school hol’s. I will be in touch, Heidi, I am sure.
I have finished Matilda’s turn on the rota and I am on to Lidia. First up, a Sketchbook shirt with the Mandarin collar in Liberty.
