I love ziplock bags.
I laminate the front and back of my pattern package (or PDF print off) and then put them in a ziplock bag with all the tracings and instructions sheet in between them.
This is a reasonable sturdy and protective option.

When you guys say ‘soda’ do you mean fizzy water you have with whiskey or a sweet fizzy drink?
‘Snap’ comes from the card game in our house. Don’t play with the Twins, they play dirty.
‘Nurse’ is another funny one. In AUS it means to hold a baby, not feed it.

When I was a kid we played it that when jinx was called the other person couldn’t speak until someone said their name. My kids play it “jinx buy me a soda” which of course never happens. Lame. 😉

I’m afraid my method isn’t very attractive but it’s functional: If it didn’t come with an envelope or my tracings have outgrown the original envelope I use Ziploc bags or accordion folders (like a manila file folder but 3 sides are closed). If I have more than one size traced I keep the pieces of each size pinned together. All of it lives in a…[Read more]

….we use ‘jinx’ too – but (in my house anyway), jinx is reserved for saying the same thing at the same time. And like MC, we say ‘no return’ – but the person then can’t speak until someone says their name three times.
So, now that I am thinking about it, I guess we say ‘snap’ for when we are doing the same thing – like having matching pairs in…[Read more]

She’s only two, so Ellie isn’t as intelligibly conversational as the stories above! But she cracks me up…
Every day when I put her down for her nap, it varies on how long it takes her to fall asleep. Many kids would get cranky lying in the dark unable to doze off but not Ellie! She will entertain herself for what is sometimes hours. I’m not s…[Read more]

Such a great look for twins when you don’t want them too matchy matchy — that shape ties the looks together but each is so distinct.

In the What Are You Sewing Now thread, I noticed the Australian gals using ‘snap’ the way I’d say ‘jinx’ — for when two people say or do the same thing at the same time. The rules around jinx vary but commonly as a kid you’d owe the person who beat you to saying jinx something like a soda. I never saw that debt actually paid. Are there rules…[Read more]

Finished my Liesl+Co Late Lunch tunic and it is drop dead gorgeous, even if I do say so myself.

Just finished my Late Lunch tunic and I am literally bubbling over with excitement.
I cannot remember the last time I made something for myself that I love this much!
(Okay, the Portfolio but don’t rain on my parade)I made the size 8 with a DD FBA and it is fabulous.
T-shirts cut for the Biggies and next on the sewing table is a teeny tiny…[Read more]
