I’m assembly-lining five of these and am wondering whether I couldn’t completely stitch the bodies, turn, and enclose, and then add the straps last. I’m thinking of using webbing/tape/wide ribbon to save myself a bit of work. Am I missing a down side to this, other than it not looking as tidy?

Karen will you put them in with the others for the monochrome project. Just add #oliverandsmonochrome to them in flickr so we can find them because we would love to see them and it looks like several ladies have made something and missed the deadline. It’s no biggie!
In terms of the sewalong, audition some fabrics is the way I find best when I…[Read more]

Cooking and Baking 10 years agoA neighbour dropped me off a bag of lemons this morning so I made this for supper http://www.taste.com.au/recipes/20191/lemon+delicious#comments
I doubled the recipe but reduced the sugar by 1/3, still fantastic.
I did add an extra 1/3 cup of lemon juice too. -

So Reeni, have you popped a photo up yet? Can’t wait to see. I have a pair of puppet show shorts that didn’t quite make the deadline but they will be in the pile someday (soon I hope).
@cybele727 (just pretend this is a dancing emoticon)😃 That means I can get all the yellow fabric out of my stash. I don’t know why I have so much but its there and…[Read more]

Do you mean attendance or weighing scales? I have kitchen scales and my 1960 Sunbeam mixer 🙂
I am waiting on my new stove (happy dance) and my existing free standing oven is being moved out to the shed as a warmer/hotplate. It is gas and quite large but the door seals have gone so not so good for baking.
I would love your…[Read more]

I have just received a phone call from my adult nephew who is currently in Canada on a uni exchange for a semester. He is actually thinking of transferring for a further semester should his exchange not be able to be extended. This is a good sign. Although he says he misses elements of home, like some foods. Being an athletic chap, he gets to…[Read more]

I spend a few minutes finding out more of this pattern you are using Heidi. It sounds very interesting and looks like a nice dress to sew. Will you show us a pic when you are done?
I thought about heading back into the sewing room this evening but decided on other things. It was just aswell as the evening would have been (pleasantly) interrupted.

@juliamom2009 janice that cape is a monster size version of the messy kid bib from Little Things To Sew, worn backwards. Because the fastening is off set to one side it shouldn’t be too visible from the front.
Hope that helps as an idea. -

Ok the hot weather has hit and sifting through the baby’s nightwear, I have discovered she requires a more appropriate size of bodysuit. 3-6 months (or rtw 00) still fits but they are snug. So it is bodysuit time. I will trace the 6-12 and 12-18 month sizes together when she is napping so I don’t have to go back and trace again for a wee…[Read more]
