@jennigirl Thankyou. The great thing was that I didn’t have to pay a thing. Those guys were fantastic. But it was very embarrassing just the same. I really do feel out of my depth when it comes to machinery.
The thing is my husband did a tyre rotation before I left for the weekend. And because of his injuries, his muscle mass is not as high as…[Read more]

Back when I was younger/perter/leaner I would have foregone the underwear and worn these styles. Nowadays I’d limit it to gym wear or swimmers (racer back) or lingerie or black tie (spaghetti straps). I can’t deal with visible bra straps, and can’t be bothered with strapless bras for everyday wear 😣

So you’re releasing an all-sport action man jumpsuit @todd ? 🙂 I’ll make you one!

I very much adhere to the “it’s only fabric” ethos.
All of the above advice is excellent but don’t frighten yourself by overthinking it.
In trying something new I figure all we have to lose is fabric costs (and Liesl’s shopping tips are fabulous) and our time. For me, it’s not like I’m turning down party invitations to stay home and sew of an…[Read more] -

I tend to shop by feel and drape so I am not much help with names…
May I say, if anyone makes you feel bad, they are the jerks, not you!
You ask your questions, only a stupid person stops learning.

Shirts with two piece collars and cuff plackets are always on my radar.
I would love your instructions for these.Cargo shorts, something like the Field Trip with no waist band/elastic back casing would be great as work/casual wear.

We love our food @lisamm Thank you for the suggestion. My Biggies were ‘Smash’ fans so when we saw the exhibition flyer, we booked extra days accommodation so we could see it.

My girls and I love racer back tops. We work out and have nice shoulders and want to show them.
I don’t find visible bra straps a problem and younger women don’t mind at all.
Spaghetti straps are very pretty too. I wouldn’t wear them to sit in the sun all day but otherwise, very cool and comfortable.

Would love to go but I’m in the west so it would be a hefty drive. Had the season been much better for us last year, we would have been able to plan a trip to Victoria to visit family and look around. I hope there will be something as equally fantastic in the future so we might be able to “take a jaunt” out there and look.

Swim trunks that are not board shorts (he has a pair that are a bit more tailored which he loves) and a slim button-up shirt, please!

Thanks for reminding me of Ashley’s fabric sourcing tips. A pair of cargo shorts in that kind of nylon blend is exactly what my husband would want me to sew for him (getting my threads crossed)

Yes a resounding yes! My almost eleven year old son has well and truly outgrown Oliver and s and I have been hard pressed to find anything decent and age appropriate ever since. My husband also desperately needs some new things and is a “hard to fit” man because he is very very broad and I have had no end of trouble trying to find things to sew…[Read more]

I’m calling for clarification on that one @todd …
“wretch” (noun) a poor, miserable person.
“retch” (verb) to gag or vomit
“wrench” (verb) to twist and pull
I’m guessing, from context, you were going for wrench… Poetic license bring what it is, and this being a limerick thread on a sewing forum, you can make up any word/meaning you like of…[Read more] -
