  • I’ve just made a pair of these, and made them to sit a little lower. Likewise, I just can’t wear anything around my stomach, too many years of wearing hip fitting clothes. I went up one size, then extended the pleat lines about 1 – 1 1/2 inches so that the pants fit a little more snugly around the hips. I only just finished my practice pair today,…[Read more]

Jaimielaura, I’ve only just got back into sewing again after a two year absence (and I’d only had the coverstitcher a couple of months before I went on hiatus). It can be a bit temperamental compared to a sewing machine or overlocker, with fabric thickness being the main area of fussiness. You do need to test your fabric prior to use and fiddle…[Read more]

Thanks Nicole – great idea! I’ve heard that about coverstitchers in general actually. Another tip (which I think I may have even read here) which I’ve been doing is hitting my seams at the hem with a hammer and they flatten down nicely. Noisy but effective LOL.
    I’m getting really excited now!!

Liesl – thank you so much for your reply – that’s exactly the reason why I want a dedicated coverstitcher, swapping back and forth seems like such a waste of time.
Carol – I’m going to get a demo on the Huskylock S21 next week, but will most likely order the Janome – the dealer does both Husqvarna/Viking and Janome but only gets the Janome in on…[Read more]

Thank you so much for your advice Carol – that’s most helpful! I have read quite a few reviews of all of the different models, but it’s always helpful to have as many different opinions as possible. I don’t know anyone in real life who uses a coverstitcher.
I think I’m pretty much sold on the Janome. The large harp area is the major selling point…[Read more]
