Up to the waist band on some denim/wool jeans (vintage KwikSew) for my son, Hugo (18). Just as well I fitted the back seam as they were a bit toight.

Thank you Big4 big seam allowance 🙂

Yes, it definitely has been done and looks awesome!

I will hunt out a few for you, I remember some Echino canvas ones.

I am a metric-baby but swing between the two with the aid of a ruler.
Funny thing is, I trained as a hairdresser in the 90’s and we used imperial in college as well…

  • Hi @paula I have a tute for these and I wonder if it may be of some help. https://au.pinterest.com/pin/73676143875180630/

The pairs I have made are on to the third child and still going strong. The also make awesome swim shorts in taslon.

@yeppoon4703 Fabric requirements for all our patterns are a pretty simple and straightforward 1:1 conversion.

OK, not really, but pretty close.

When we do our fabric requirements we do them to the nearest 1/4 yard because most stores won’t sell in quantities of less than that. We always use our pattern development software to calculate the…[Read more]

I find it strange that a simple to use, base 10 measurement system has not been adopted by the entire planet. Quilting, sewing and map making might be the last hold outs.

I learned Imperial for Cartography when I was in university. I find it best not to convert between the two. Too much room for error. I add masking tape to my throat plate to…[Read more]

@markjebobarrhotmail-com aren’t they fabulous?! It is such a nice surprise to have not one but two choices also. Are you planning to use both styles or just one? I have both on my list as I can see these being very well used.

@dubhels2003 Thankyou! She is very “into” what I do and very much a helper. I will eventually make the blouse. I have cut a denim music class skirt which I intend to sew along with a pair of afterschool pants (also denim) and a button up skirt and pair of jeans for my eldest. The shirt will come after as I am spending much of the holidays sorting…[Read more]

I didn’t trace the skirt pattern in the end but I did finish two field trip t shirts. I left the pockets off for these ones and used the coverstitch machine around the neckline just to try it out. The result gives them more of a pullover type look. They are the perfect size so no need to size up just yet.

Next project will be the button up skirt.

Finally got started with the t shirts today after a few non sewing days. I completely mucked up the neckline of the first Jalie raglan t shirt. I do not like the instructions for the binding at. all! Instead for the second one I did it the normal way and gained a much better result. It’s actually wearable and everything is approved by the…[Read more]

  • I’d totally wear them together! I think it all depends on the fabrics you choose. But yes, they would absolutely work as a pair. It’s been on my list to sew a matching top and skirt using these two patterns, so if you get to it before I do I hope you’ll post photos! I think they could be cute as separates, but also as a matching set.

  • I think if you got a good fit of your bust /waist it could look lovely. I am not tall or willowy so avoid too much ‘floatiness’. I did wear the skirt with the Weekend blouse but I had good bust/under bust definition.

This skirt sat really low on me, with looser tops I felt a bit ‘messy in the middle’.
I am not sure I am being much help…sorry.

  • I had hoped it was you! @dubhels2003

  • I wore my Everyday skirt through out my last pregnancy with a fitted black tee. I quite liked that silhouette.

  • Thanks for asking about this! I’m sorry to report that we won’t be releasing any new Oliver + S patterns this spring. All of my energies have been going into the upcoming book, which will be ready in early September. In the meantime, later this months we will be announcing some new Lisette patterns for summer. And come September you can also…[Read more]
