I am with Sarvi on this one. I let my children use sharp knives, scissors, pins under supervision, from a young age. They learn how to handle them and are often better as they work better then blunt.
Otherwise, it sounds awesome. My only suggestion is some pre-cut felt pieces so they can get stitching straight away.
How lovely, what a special…[Read more] -

ps She didn’t really sleep well until Matilda moved in with her, they share a bed.
I think she was about 6 then. We co-sleep, like Sarvi. -

Different children settle at different ages. Liddy took a long time to sleep through the night. She would wake up and miss me.
In the end I put a cot mattress under my bed and a quilt and told her she was welcome to make a nest on the floor but to please not wake me.
I think by 5 a child is old enough to have explained you need sleep to be a happy…[Read more] -

Yes there is a great product that could help if it is behavioural. Its called the Gro clock. Its a clock that you can set the time to and it acts as a sleep trainer. It has a sun and moon picture and stars that disappear. The idea is the child has to wait to see the sun pop up on the clock to indicate the time they can get out of bed and this is…[Read more]

For posterity’s sake, this issue was due to a minor labeling error on the initial release of the pattern. Details can be found here:
The issue has been corrected now and future downloads of the pattern will be of the revised version.

The pattern has now been corrected to show the correct size labels on the center front and center back pleats.
If you purchased the pattern prior to this posting, you can use your link to download and save an updated copy of the pattern. (The only changes are to the pleat size labels on pages 25, 41, and 51 of the PDF file.)
For anyone…[Read more]

I also have a wakeful kid, I didn’t get five continuous hours of sleep until well past her second birthday. You are not alone!
Could it be that she is just not yet ready to sleep independently? Could you put her bed in your room or let her sleep with you? It sounds like you are a source of comfort and security for her.
We like having ours…[Read more]

No advice. But plenty of empathy. I know we all do all kinds of things to get our kids to sleep.

Ladies, I’ve finally found the problem! It’s quite simple. And totally silly on my party. I reversed the size labels for the center front and center back pleats, so the lines and dots that are labelled size 0 should actually be size 20. And vice versa.
I’m so sorry about this! Thanks for your patience while I figured it out. The good news is…[Read more]

It all sounds exquisite Heidi!
No sewing for me at the moment. Just lots of doctor’s appointments. I am hoping to get to do something tomorrow but will have to be either non machine useage or slippery using the machine. We are forecast for storms and the last thing you want to do during a storm is use your sewing machine!
