Say I’m you’s Garden Party dress has inspired me to try one for Miss 6 1/2 (recently finished the Lunch Box culottes, and a Badminton top for this child). Last December, I cut out a Hopscotch skirt for her but when I got it out last night,…[Read more]

Unfortunately (or fortunately, depending on your point of view), there’s not really such a thing as one-stop shopping in NYC. We have such a broad variety of options here, it’s impossible to put it all in one place. Like Sarvi said, it really depends on what you’re hoping to find. If you’re looking for a broad variety of quilting cottons try City…[Read more]

The dot shows where to begin and end the basting/gathering so the gathers won’t continue into the side seam or seam allowances. It’s been a long time since I wrote this pattern, but looking at it now it appears that the dot really could have…[Read more]

Great comments, ladies, thank you for chiming in!
I too have a big stash that’s a result of buying things I love without a specific plan for them. Once I started using apparel fabrics I really preferred them, and that was helpful in cutting back some of the impulse buying, as these fabrics don’t come out on the same kind of schedule as new…[Read more]

What kinds of things to do you like to sew? Do you prefer fun prints and quilting cottons, or do you prefer to use apparel fabrics? Purl Soho is a tad pricy but has a lot of great ‘fun’ fabrics and is definitely a one-stop shop with everything crafty you can imagine. You can have a look online to get a feel for what they carry.
