I have just completed my second skirt for the challenge. It happens to be a first for me though as I haven’t had a proper opportunity to try out the 2+2 pattern. I forgot to add a tag though so I suppose I will have to find a suitable spot.

I used a really pretty piece of pink pinwale corduroy. Thank goodness for remnant pieces and small sized…[Read more]

Sounds like you did a servicable job cybele. That’s one thing I do miss about my childhood and that is tap dancing!

  • Our friend, Catherine, is here to walk us through how to sew the Bubble Dress. This post originally appeared on the blog as part of the Size 5 Project.

This is intended as a two-day sew along. Let’s hand it over to Catherine to start day 1.

    Day 1

Thanks for having me back for the Bubble Dress and the Size 5 Project.

  • Forgetting where I put a pattern whilst planning a project and then ordering the digital version out of desperation, printing a copy and then finding the original paper pattern under the fabric I intended to use with it!

I am half way through constructing skirt number two. Have taken a break to turn in for the night and listen to dh’s snores (oh joy!). I have given myself permission to get on with joining in the skirt challenge since I have been relieved of formal dress sewing duties (thank goodness for that).

This 2+2 skirt is in a light pink corduroy, a remnant…[Read more]

I still love Alexandra or Charlotte for her though. And I would think they may even use Catherine as this would have ties to not only Catherine herself but to her maternal family.

We’ll see. Their are so many lovely royal girls’ names to choose from. The child was 8lbs 3oz – very sturdy.

Elizabeth has to be in there somewhere! And if they were to use a name from Diana, I tip Frances not Diana.

Awww T, can’t wait to see that. I finished the Popover #8 last night, _ the one that didn’t make the post in time, and have spent most of day taking advantage of sunshine to chose fabrics for a variety of projects. Job done, but my feet are killing me, and the mess I was attempting to clean up is not much improved. But I think I’m ahead on points.…[Read more]

Really looking forward to hearing what names have been chosen; a good friend and I are punting for Alice, and/or Helena. I think that there is also a reasonable chance of ‘Margaret’ being included in the “string”. (This was the name of the current Queen’s sister, and only sibling, dear Republicans).
