So I finally ordered the pattern – I got the smaller size that her measurements actually correspond to rather than being cheap and trying to alter a size 5 so I have the pattern until she gets to middle school! I’m going to make a version in some very lovely green and white seersucker (which I know she will hate!) for size and then go from there.…[Read more]

Grr! Feeling grumpy at the moment over the fact that I found out that my daughter’s class is going on a camp next term and I have NOT received any informtation from school! I queried Imogen and she swears she didn’t get anything. So I had to ring the school and have it be sent through. We have to pay prior to them going. I am just so disappointed…[Read more]

@karen Thank you! I will have a look at that fox dress. Off into town today to see what I can find, ready made or fabric.
Regarding the Badminton Skort, I have always found it quite true to size. Mine is up on my blog now although I still haven’t had time to photograph it on her. -

@KAREN yes I have both issue 18 and 84 and I actually used the Tiffany pattern to make a dress for a neibour’s daughter when she turned one year old (she is now turning 7) I was a subscriber so have most of them with only a couple of the early issues missing from the collection. I am making the size 6 months as she still fits this size and the…[Read more]

@KAREN I pulled the issue out and you know I went to their blog but forgot to enter it, thinking I should tell them but I forgot the issue number. I will send a note on to them. I spent much of yesterday afternoon trying to sort out the threads as it seems I don’t have the silk threads in the colours that the magazine has stated. So I will have to…[Read more]

So my nephew has started his overseas trip which will ultimately turn into a semester of University studies in Canada. He arrived in Paris yesterday I think but unfortunately, he lost his luggage at the airport AND his phone was stolen! Not a good start I think! We are just hoping he was wise and didn’t leave anything on the phone that would cost…[Read more]

I hope that zip behaved and came together sufficiently for you Sarvi!
Sounds like some lovely sister sewing going on. My own sister sews too and we have done this in the past but she lives five hours away from me now so we don’t get to do it anymore.
I’ve been all inspired to get the pleater out because I hopped onto the Frances suzanne blog!…[Read more]

Oh, forgot to mention that yes, I did consider having the button closure instead, and in fact our very own Lotta has a tutorial for it, but unfortunately this occurred to me after I’d already cut my fabric, and I didn’t have enough to cut another back bodice. I even thought about Frankensteining an extra button panel or something on there but…[Read more]
