I adore the name! I wanted Chloe to be a Charlotte! Elizabeth was a given for me I think because its Catherine’s middle name and Carol’s and also ties to Her Majesty. I think they chose beautifully.
Although I do hope that the next generation choose versions of the old names, like Elise instead of Elizabeth, just to mix things up slightly.

I made a little library dress from silk dupion and I did the version with the collar. I also have a pink silk one waiting to be sewn up.
It wouldnt matter where the silk came from or if it were dupion or Thai. It works beautifully with the pattern.
You may have to take care with laundering.
I’m not sure if I took a photo of the dress I made.…[Read more]

Sometimes you can lose some seam allowance if the seam is not perfectly flat. Perhaps try dampening in and rolling it under your fingers.
Is the the step you are referring too?

Good on you Fiona. I expect you will put a plan in place to sew things for the Mayfair throughout the year. It feels quite rewarding when your things prove to be popular.
I started the hot pink hopscotch skirt yesterday and had fully intended to finish it also. Alas I think we have some pearly white teeth coming as my poor baby has been terribly…[Read more]

Another that has not sewn the Library dress but I have made many outfit from for my children.

I adore sewing the stiffer silks, they are easy to handle and sew well.
First up, decide how you want to launder your garment, pre-wash and stick to that method. If you chose to hand wash (…[Read more]

My daughter has similar measurements to your son. I have in the past successfully made pants her pants where the width was significant smaller than the rise and length. If I recall correctly I think I did a size 12-18 month width Afterschool pant with a 2T rise and length and it worked well.
I haven’t tried this with Art Museum though.

I concur
I over altered the Field Trip cargoes for my daughter and lost a lot of hip room , they are okay but it did spoil the patten some what
I did lengthen the Art Museum trousers for my tall skinny girl very successfully adding length to the waist and the ankle
( I just checked , size 7 with a length of 12)
I guess as long as the hips are…[Read more] -
Tamara replied to the topic Who wants to sew the Oliver + S skirts with me and win?? in the forum sewing with liesl + co and oliver + s 10 years ago
I have just finished a 2+2 skirt, the first for me but I have had this pattern for quite a while, just didn’t have a little girl to fit into the size range.
Next I have a hot pink hopscotch.

I have just completed my second skirt for the challenge. It happens to be a first for me though as I haven’t had a proper opportunity to try out the 2+2 pattern. I forgot to add a tag though so I suppose I will have to find a suitable spot.
I used a really pretty piece of pink pinwale corduroy. Thank goodness for remnant pieces and small sized…[Read more]
