  • Thank you very much NCMimi; I made the Playtime that way mainly because I was concerned about Missy tolerating the lowered sleeve seams, especially in a thicker fabric. I did understand what you were saying about littlies getting into the armholes, and occasionally with more fitted tops like the Sailor top, I have lengthened the armholes…[Read more]

  • I made this pattern in a size 5, last year and the child didn’t experience any problems. However, I drafted it without sleeves, and as I have some much smaller sizes planned, it’s good to get this feedback. I find that dear O + S vary in ease of getting over heads or getting arms into sleeves. I now bear this in mind when drafting patterns. A new…[Read more]

Thank you ladies for sharing these lovely pics; it’s scary, delightful, and so heart-rending to see how ‘our’ babies have grown. Dear Jane, and Janice, another milestone for your little girls coming up very soon. Thank you both for keeping me up-to-date with their progress; meanwhile, hope your summers are a special time.

A new ‘snook’ – such a great nickname for a newborn. I’ll bet your older boy is really chuffed!!

  • Oh rats, Audrey!! I’ve made that pattern only once, and I had to sort out the straps several times to avoid mixing them up. So lots of sympathy.

Sorry about the gastro, T, and S, I hope your chap knows how lucky HE is. His birthday present is truly cool! And so different. I finished two size 8 Roller Skates, today, and they both look great – looking fwd to posting on Flickr tomorrow. Both for the same child, and rather late in the season but they are her favourite style to wear, and over…[Read more]

Thank you RTWG; I have made the Music Box for the little one last year – 18-24mths because she’s a bonny kid. The finished measurements around the chest are my usual ‘go-to’ for trying to choose a size, but I also appreciate that even the pattern looks big, there is a styling aspect to be considered, also. The size 5 worked well on Miss 5 this…[Read more]

  • My internet connections are very slow tonight so this seemed the most sensible, and quickest way of commenting on Lightning McStitch’s checkered, and modified culottes for her handsome boy. Her blog on the topic ‘wouldn’t’ let me comment but I wanted to praise the result of her work – the kid looks fantastic, and I LOVE the boots with it -, and to…[Read more]

Goodness, dear RTWG, you are on a real sewing kick, aren’t you? So glad you have a good pattern for your nursing wear. Thank you everybody for your kind comments about the ‘profitable Popovers’. Apart from contributing to a good cause, I always hope that people might find their way to dear O + S as a consequence of buying one of my efforts. LoL,…[Read more]

When you ‘share’ the pics, you can adjust the ‘size’ to ‘medium’ which helps with loading, and downloading for the recipient. I’ve made the MB nearly as many times as RTWG (one of my favourite patterns) so I hope you can share on this site.

Ditto to all the others’ comments, dear Jenny. So pleased that your dear little girl is doing better, and recovering her looks, and presumably her energy. I do empathise with the agony of trying to stay strong for a child in pain when you can’t stop it, and the illness requires grisly procedures. (Been there with my godson when he was little, many…[Read more]

  • Such really useful info, ladies. I don’t have much experience sewing pants, but I do know that kids’ widths are various points on their bodies commonly differ radically from their lengths. Thank you.
