Could you classify silver as part of the spectrum? Do you think it would pass as a sparkly grey?

Would really like to know because I have an idea involving silver.

And yes, definitely tag it. It would be a great round up, I hope.

I figure some grey scale will be ok too. Because most prints on black often have grey scale, but that fits with the monochromatic theme.
I actually ordered my fabric already. (Raise your hand if you’ve got multiple projects lined up….) I have a jumprope to finish, a garden party and 3 hopscotch dresses on deck. I will likely have enough…[Read more]

Thanks @cybele727 I was thinking it needed it’s own thread.
I’ll have a blog post up soonish for son inspiration and with my (first) monochrome creation.
If you use Flickr tags or instagram then tag with #oliverandsmonochrome then we might have a round up of projects at the end.
I found some great pics on pinterest and started a board. -

Oh gosh I am SUCH a legend! I am in the middle of constructing the most gorgeous family reunion dress for Chloë Jayne Elise and am up to attaching the neck facing. This is the bonza moment when one realises the beautifully stitched in the ditch tab is (oh no!) too high!
Off to unpick and have another go – and read the instructions!

Not quite summer vacation time, just a mid semester break.
I’m in too but as yet undecided – I think I shall be mysterious! Yah! Likely story! It is still to be decided upon.

So this morphed from another thread… we are thinking about doing a sew along… 2 rules… an O +S pattern and black and white.
It could be anything …formal… casual… snappy casual… pjs…holiday.
Black and white could be fun.
Dates:
Post a pick of your B&W O&S outfit in Flickr by 10/5. This will give us who are exceedingly busy…[Read more]

We could turn it toward the recital topic though by incorporating the music theme into it maybe? Or we could one just for that …. maybe?

That will give us a bit of time to sort out something. The final week of September is busy for me so the week before would be more convenient. I would say this is an anytime sew along though it would be good to sew along with everyone else.

Oh I think just B & W. :). Maybe grey since monochrome is the spectrum really. Otherwise anything goes.
What if we plan for end of September? Enough time to plan and execute?

I am still on my jumprope. We went to NYC for the weekend for our anniversary. Bought fabric. Now I’m really behind!

For some reason my message above looks garbled!
Anyway, its Wednesday and I have not started any sewing projects for the show. I think I will have to give it a miss this year. Three kids poorly and myself working hard not to go over the edge with a lurgy also. Not to mention farm issues (shearers not turning up etc). It has turned out to be all a…[Read more]

Lightning McStitch replied to the topic Parachute polo in all knit? in the forum oliver + s: parachute polo + sweatpants 10 years ago
@justsewit Tamara mine was a relatively thick, stable blend knit. Not as thick as a Ponte. No curling like a cotton lycra, so probably a poly blend. It has a slightly brushed surface and is lovely to wear. It’s the same fabric I’m wearing in the V neck tutorial post.
I’d say it should work in most knits but not really slinky viscose jerseys! -
Lightning McStitch replied to the topic Fairy Tale sizing help? Skip the darts? in the forum oliver + s: fairy tale 10 years ago
The best thing to do is probably to measure the flat pattern across the waistline. Without the darts will it give a big enough waistline?
It would be lovely to do them the same as your first.
I’m wary of the LTTS tutu as wedding attire due to the potential gap at the back. The apron style is perfect for dress ups but would not be a good look in church! -

The newspaper project …. Well it is black and white isn’t it?
Or to be musical, the manuscript project?
