Sarvi replied to the topic Elastic length for Sleeve casing in bigger sizes in the forum oliver + s: class picnic 10 years ago
Sorry, I guess I’m not clear on the relevance of the grandmother’s size? I’ve made the size 5 and found the elastic to be fine. It is a pretty gentle sort of elastic that fits in there (you’re not meant to use that very stiff, heavy waistband type of elastic) and it’s really just giving a bit of gentle gather/ease for dressing to a bit of the…[Read more]

Currently, I’m making a number of Class Picnic tops, including a size 8 that will be sent interstate. I’m concerned that the length of the elastic suggested for the sleeve casings in the larger sizes is the same as the smaller pattern range; ie. 5″. Can someone who has made the CP blouse in size 6, and up let me know if the length of elastic…[Read more]

needlewoman replied to the topic Bias casing, Pattern piece 5 missing in the forum oliver + s: class picnic 10 years ago
Hi Charlene, isn’t that annoying when a pattern piece goes ‘walkabout’? The dimensions of the bias casing pattern piece are 8.5″x 1.5″ for all sizes in your pattern’s range. You’ll find this cut piece is very generous for the smaller sleeve sizes; obviously you cut two, on the bias. Hope you will post a picture of your finished garment.

@with-love-heidi it looks fantastic! I especially love that close fit at the chest – no slipping or gaping! This has definitely landed the pattern on my wish list. Even at my thinnest I am in the smallest size, right now I’d need to go up, so it seems a good investment.

Yes, it’s her first pattern. She’s specifically designing for curves, larger busts and larger sizes. It works well on my (proportionlly) short waisted pear shape, better with the waist ties at the back than the front. So nice to make only one pattern adjustment rather than lots!
Tamara, it would also be nursing friendly 🙂 -

I’ve got some in process photos of the Appleton Dress.
Notes: I’m 6’2″, Pear shape with a large bust, HB 39″ B 44″, W36″, H48″. This is a straight size 18 C/D. I added 4″ to the bodice between the armhole and the waist and I adjusted the neck band to fit the new neckline.
The dress is unhemed and still has the stabiliser I was using on the…[Read more] -

@with-love-heidi, please promise you will post pics of Appleton once it is done? I am very intrigued by the pattern.
I have been doing a little selfish sewing lately. Made a very successful Josephine (Made By Rae) and started on a second. The second is not going well, however, and it is currently in time-out for about the fourth time. In the…[Read more]

@ann-maree, thank you! I just got the notification too, but then I went to put it in my cart and it is sold out (or “sold out”) again! Maybe it is not meant to be.
