Wow it’s been a long time since I last posted! Not sewing anything at the moment as my basement (where my sewing area is) is currently drying out. Last weekend my hot water heater decided to finish completely rusting out and flooded the basement carpet. Fortunately discovered it fairly quickly so we were able to clean up as it leaked. Praying no…[Read more]

How sweet.
My 6 year old was trying to con her grandmother (my mother) into making her an alternative dinner since she didn’t like what was made. (An expressly against the rules thing.)
She told my mother that “You don’t have to follow mommy’s rules, because you are mommy’s mommy and she has to follow your rules. And besides sometimes adults…[Read more]

Perils of height, I traced off my pants went to place them on fabric, the 3 pieces of bottom weight I was considering were ALL too short! 🙁 Didn’t help that 2 of them were lovely 90cm width micro corduroy.
I found something but it will end up as pajamas if they work, but I can test the pattern. I don’t think I can get away with Winnie the Pooh…[Read more] -

Ah, yes, Tamara, the perils of the lengthy adjustment and recommended fabric requirements or even, I want to use this from my stash, no too short 🙁
I’m in the process of adding 4″ to the length of Jalie 3243, pull on non stretch woven pants!
Please let us know about how the Harrison works, it’s on my to buy/make list. I’ve been hoping Cashmerette…[Read more] -

Glad you found the issue. I was going to say that this one sounded pretty odd to me and I had no idea what would have been causing the problem!

@caraskates I searched for the image (frozen ignoramus I’m afraid) and how about this: Music Class blouse, Lazy Days Skirt then a bodice whatsit that laces at the back to go over the top.
Then you’ve got separates that are wearable as everyday items and whack in the brooch at the neck and the bodice and you’re instantly Anna.
You could use a…[Read more] -

Would the new Lisette athletic pattern be too big for her? I think the jacket would work well in a knit: https://oliverands.com/lisette-patterns/OLV-B6386.html

Thank you for your help. I want to sew the trim on the fancier way because the inside of the hems are visible at times.

My threenager is all about zip front jersey hooded tops. She also loves pink, and anything soft. I now accept that I’m better sewing her things she likes and will wear, as opposed to what I like. I’ve seen some cerise stretch velour which she would LOVE and would be very cosy for winter. In an attempt to get her to wear anything other than…[Read more]

@kmac0107 Kim, do you mind if the trim shows on the reverse side?
If you don’t then it would be as simple as turning up the hem allowance, pinning the trim to the underside then stitching it on while stitching the hem.
If you want to go fancier…. You could try the following:
Trim off any hem allowance in excess of a 1/2 seam allowance. Line up…[Read more] -

Is there a tutorial that shows the best way to add cotton lace trim to the hem of the Swingset Skirt and to the sleeves of the Butterfly Blouse? Thank you for your help.

I love 21-wale cord! Yes, I think it will work just fine. How fun that you found good colors, too!
