I didn’t seal the seams in the raincoats I made and there was plenty of topstitching. I didn’t have any issues with water seeping in. Granted the raincoats are not worn for long out in the rain. Usually just to/from the bus stop.;)
Here’s a good post with some helpful links: http://sewnbyangela.blogspot.com/2012/03/minoru-done.html?m=1

Yay for a new craft shop!
I have put the shorts away while I work out how to fix/fit them. I moved onto a pair of TNT legging and matching Colette Mabel skirt which I can get out of 2m of fabric! I know these will fit and get worn every week as I already have matching leggings and Mabel skirt in 2 other colours 🙂 -

Thanks for the good wishes Tamara, I’m pretty much back to normal now.
I bought, stuck, traced, cut and sewed a muslin of the Colette Iris shorts. However I’m now extremely frustrated because of the major fit issues! I was hoping that The Colette draft might work quite well in the shorts as the Mabel Skirt fits beautifully. But it looks…[Read more] -

Ladies, thanks for the suggestions. I am going to JoAnn’s tomorrow to feel them. I made a bag once and it was stiff. That’s not what I want, but I do want some body!

I’ve been branching out into the bag-making world; I’ve been using a lot of this: http://www.pellonprojects.com/products/sf101-shape-flex/ – it’s lightweight, fusible and woven and definitely gives more structure. I like it quite a bit.

I got Thinsulate from Amazon (supplier Vogue Fabric) – free shipping through Prime. The Thinsulate per yard was about the same as Seattle Fabrics, but the shipping directly from Vogue was killer.

I thought this might be a good catch-all thread for folks looking for something specific that they can’t easily find at their favorite local or online shop. I was looking for Thinsulate, and found this shop online:

Anybody used them?

I am not familiar with the Sulky so I can’t compare, but I believe this is the one I use for collars and cuffs — would that be about the weight you want?

The interfacing I normally use is a roll of Sulky fusible interfacing. It is rather silky and provides almost no body. Just stablization for the buttonholes and collars but not much structure. In a Clutch calls for a lightweight fusible.
Is this too lightweight? Do I want something with more body? This Sulky will provide little or no body in my…[Read more]

I just finished raw appliqueing on a cheap-o white T shirt. I did a snow flake pattern using some left over blue scraps. I wanted a “winter” shirt as opposed to a “Christmas” T, because then you only get a month out of that t shirt. I find my self using a “boys” t shirt instead of a girls. Boys shirts are cut with a longer torso, and my…[Read more]

Becky, I just lengthened the existing sleeves, tapering them a bit at the bottom since my daughter is very thin. Glad to be of service!

Great work Tamara!
I haven’t sewn as I’ve been sick this week 🙁 However I did get to go Op shopping today and came back with some nice pieces of fabric to use for Christmas gifts I’m making:) -
