It is possible, but would depend the width of your fabric and whether or not you are using fabric with a directional print. I am not talking about the flimsy shell ones. Just simple round disks. If the edges are slightly rounded then they might be fine. The only thing you can do is go to the store and look at various button sizes and thicknesses.

The problem with snaps on the back is manifold, imho. First, if they sit on the snaps in just the right way, they pop open. They are kind of meant to do that. Then, to get a snap strong enough to withstand the pressure of the sit, they are pretty thick and industrial.

This is one of the few O+S pattern I don’t have so I don’t feel “qualified” to give an answer.;) But if it’s tight under the arms, I would think going ahead and making the next size up would help with the jumper being too tight under the arms. Sorry I couldn’t be more of a help!
