Heirloom Sewing and Embroidery 11 years agoWhat about Anna Maria Horner’s Paper Fan Dress bodice with a beautifully full skirt? It has a crossover buttoned back bodice.

Heirloom Sewing and Embroidery 11 years agoWhat an amazing pinterest board of inspiration! We don’t envy your decision in the least! How old is your daughter that you’ll be sewing for?

Heirloom Sewing and Embroidery 11 years agoOh, what pretty fabric and SO perfect for an Irish wedding! I was drawn to that same photo from your Pinterest board as well. One suggestion I’d make is to make the underlayer a slightly darker shade than the overlayer. With white on white I find that sometimes I can’t see the pretty details as well as I’d like.

Perfect, I was so hoping you’d done a tute for it. This will be very useful for the baby girls in my life.

Heirloom Sewing and Embroidery 11 years agoWe’ve only heard rave reviews about any of Gail’s classes….so, we can only imagine how wonderful taking two of her classes would be. Ooooh, yes!! You must finish them now – so nice to have an excuse to do so.

@Linda – Calcutta is famous for Bengali cotton and tant cotton. It is fabulous! Saris are generally 5.5 to 6 meters, so plenty of fabric. The cotton is fine and translucent almost muslin type, you would have to line any garments made from it I reckon. All saris would be starched, but the weave should be fine. Also if you buy from a big store then…[Read more]

Heirloom Sewing and Embroidery 11 years agoI can’t see the fabric you splurged on, is there supposed to be a link or attachment? I doubt I can suggest anything you haven’t thought of but I’m excited to see what you’ll make!

Heirloom Sewing and Embroidery 11 years agoLove, love, love Gail Doane’s gorgeous creations!! Funny thing….we briefly met her last weekend, while “crashing” an heirloom sewing class she was teaching. Luckily, it was during lunch so we got a quick photo with her and were able to ooooh and aaaah over the loveliness she brought to showcase.
Yes, yes, yes….if only the time could match our…[Read more]

Heirloom Sewing and Embroidery 11 years agoI’d been thinking that I’d love the little girls to have smocked dresses for Easter. Not sure if they will ‘approve’ or not. They seem to have grown up on me overnight!
I want to say that BK’s baptism gown was made using the Twinkle Toes pattern…I’ll have to double check next time I’m at my mom’s.;)
