I’ve lined the Secret Agent Trench in fleece which worked very well.

The spring show at the local theatre is Mary Poppins. Yay! It’s one of my favourite shows. It’s on the big stage this year for the 25th anniversary of the theatre school (that’s a big deal as that stage is usually reserved for “professional” groups!). As there aren’t very many speaking roles, the little kids are going to be in the…[Read more]

I don’t want to add a slippery lining because she’s likely going to wear it over a t-shirt or short sleeved shirt so I don’t want anything that would feel “cool” to the touch. I thought if I underlined it, it would act more like a flannel jacket rather than a lined jacket so there would be less chance of the flannel getting caught on other…[Read more]

I just finished the leopard hide and seek dress. I enjoyed this much more than I expected, it comes together so well 🙂 I skipped all the top stitching this time as the combination of pinwale courduroy and velvet didn’t seem to want it. I love top stitching and can’t wait to sew one with oodles of top stitching. This pattern seems to call out for it 🙂

Oh, that’s an odd looking zipper foot! Can you bring the needle very close to the attachment point? Good luck!

How much fiddling do you want to do, and what is it that you like about the dress? At first glance the Carousel looks like a good bet.

Haha, I’m glad somebody gets my shoe obsession! These were my first pair of ‘good’ shoes, I got them 75% off at the post New Year’s Sale at Neiman Marcus and they still cost what felt like an arm and a leg. I still wear them, though! Got my money’s worth in the long run.

M-C, ultimately you are the one who has to be comfortable, and you are the one who knows your friends and what will make you look like part of the group vs what will make people gasp and clutch their pearls. I’ve been to weddings where I felt underdressed in an embroidered silk Oscar de la Renta two-piece and to weddings where I felt overdressed…[Read more]

I’ve only checked it out of the library. I wasn’t particularly impressed although I think they may have had a Lego carrier I thought was clever.
I felt that the sizing was limited, only went to 6/7, although much better than many other books that only go to size 6. There were lots of raw edge techniques, so it depends if you like that style…[Read more] - Load More
