@sahmcolorado I think I will be doing this for my oldest girl too! She still takes a 2 or 3 width in the dress patterns but she needs 6 for length.

Badminton dress, pinwheel slip, Rollerskate minus the elastic or if you have the class picnic patterns Cindy did a fantastic tutorial for adding spaghetti straps, http://oliverands.com/community/blog/2014/08/customizing-the-class-picnic-blouse-spaghetti-straps-top.html#more-12176

Uhm I am about to embark on this. Though some patterns will be size 4 because we can still fit a few.
I think I may be a bit ambitious for this spring/summer.

I have some cute largish print fabric (dragons!) that DD loves and I want to make a nightgown with it—it’s woven fabric not knit/jersey. Any suggestions?? I’m thinking either swingset or a sleeveless 2+2 lengthened. Any other pattern suggestions?

Sorry to keep you in suspense!
Everything is printed, and now it’s time for the process of marrying up the jobs from the different printers and getting them assembled. Then they need to ship back across the country and get warehoused before we can release them.
So it will probably be another couple weeks, but it could be sooner if everyone does…[Read more]

Lightning McStitch replied to the topic Marking the markings–argh!! in the forum off topic 10 years ago
I’ve gone right off cutting notches as sometimes the seam allowance is small and a vigorous notch could land me in trouble!
I make all markings with ceramic pencil (cloverline) about the only fabric it struggles with is fluffy wool or fleece.
To mark dots within the pattern I stick a pin through all layers, pattern tracing and fabrics and then…[Read more] -

I may be lacking imagination (it’s early morning here) but my thoughts re the placket is that you can’t.
If you want the lining attached attached at the top but free at the bottom you’d need to make the placket only half length or have an almost separate under dress with it’s own placket. Both would be icky solutions I think.
How about underling…[Read more] -

I make holes in patterns with a machine needle. If the fabric isn’t too pressure I poke the needle all the way through the pattern and the fabric.

Fiber Club! 10 years agoTamara, that is exciting – and the answer of course is, “it depends.” In my most prolific (pre-kids) knitting days I could finish a hat in two days, and an adult sweater in two weeks. But I spent hours per day doing it. Now it takes me forever to finish anything – I may knit up to an hour a day when I am very smitten with a project (but I’ve…[Read more]

A ruffler is a great piece of equipment 🙂
I’ve also recently been using elastic thread in the bobbin as a quick and easy gathering/ruffling method. I like it because I can easily stretch the gathered piece to fit. -

Jillls- that’s interesting, I want to try that. How do you get the punch to reach markings that are not on the edge of the pattern paper???

Fiber Club! 10 years agoSarvi is right- I should have mentioned that. You should always block a tension square and THEN count stitches and rows. Row count is often harder to achieve to match the required gauge, so if you can’t get the row tension then go with whichever gauge gives you the correct stitch count. From your post it sounds like you know how to block, but if…[Read more]
