How about the lawn/shirting weights from Yoshiko Jinzenji (sp?) — they make terrific little shirts and aren’t too hot.

Hi all,
So I think I figured out why the polo placket was giving some of you issues. We’ve issued an errata for the pattern, so check the page before you sew your next one. However, rest assured that if you’ve already started sewing one it will still work without the corrections! You’ll just apply the collar a little differently and start from…[Read more]

Thanks for responding! Unfortunately, I don’t still have that piece. I think I cut out the size 4 thinking that still “saved” the other, smaller sizes (since it does on the side seams, etc.).

Do you still have the piece that you cut out? could you tape it back in place? I’m sure you’d have thought of that already. I don’t know if I have the smaller size but when I get a chance I’ll have a look and see.

The skirt and/or bodice of the ice cream dress works well with small cuts of fabric too.

I have made the ice cream dress several times and love it. I have a paper copy of the smaller sizes and made one last night for a baby gift in the 6-12 month size.
But, I accidentally cut the neckline of the size 4 (on both the paper pattern and the fabric). I didn’t notice until the dress was done.
Could someone let me know approximately…[Read more] -

I’m also looking to empoofen the bubble. Has anybody tried this? How did it work out?

Most annoyed that I couldn’t find a good piece of linen suitable for the Sandbox trousers — wound up cutting them from a sandy cotton … something, not sure what to call it. Not twill, but heavier weight, like that. Speck of stretch to it, I think, it’s a bit hard to tell.
Testing a bubble with extra-long bodice (hoping to sneak it past the…[Read more]

You know, I’m afraid I actually wound up not doing any fabric shopping, as I was there for only a very short time, so I tried to only see/do/eat things I couldn’t get at home or online. I did pop into Purl Soho because it was close to something else I wanted to visit, and I did go to the wonderfully-named Tender Buttons, which I very highly…[Read more]

You know you’ve been sewing O+s too long when you can eyeball half an inch. Exactly.

Sarvi, i’m interested in how your trip went, and where you’d recommend, especially as it sounds like you already have a lot of choice on your doorstep.

I am just finished with the scallops on the Badminton skort. I made up a pair of the shorts on their own with a ‘slash and spread’ adjustment and have just checked the fit, which is wonderful! So I can safely cut out another pair to go under the skirt and complete my skort.
