  • Yay! I’m glad you went for it, doesn’t it feel great to try something big?

Tons of great ideas above. I think the parents will appreciate having some healthy options and the kids will probably not especially notice anything but the cake. How much work do you want to put into it?

I make this semi often and it is a big hit, but it’s a fair amount of work. You can make it go much quicker by using premade puff pastry and…[Read more]

  • Help!! Lady E is 3 in two weeks and she is having four little friends round to play for an hour or two. I would like to make a really nice party lunch. It has to be reasonably healthy and be mainly vegetarian. The party doesn’t have a theme or anything, and I don’t mind hot or cold, or a mix of both. I’ll also be feeding parents/siblings, and…[Read more]

  • Sorry to those of you waiting but it probably won’t be until next week. Once we hand things off to the printer we lose a lot of control of the timetable and this round things are taking longer than usual.

OOOH I miss new babies and so glad I don’t have one.

Although in some respects they are easier than the older kids.

    Enjoy your baby!!!

Wow. Everyone is so busy. I’m at a stand stil of sorts having broken my machine. I took it in yesterday and they said 2 weeks. I cut 4 hopscotch dresses last night from knits I got at Mood when I was there in August. So I will be ready.

But it’s ok because I have a trial on Friday. I’m not going to lie. I am anxious and nervous. But no lawyer…[Read more]

  • Definitely! I’ll no doubt be asking for advice along the way, and what better place than here?

Just checking in, it’s been a while! Blame the holidays.

You have all been so busy! I have been sewing but it has been a run of school uniform, which I am always enthusiastic to start but by the time I am doing my last buttonholes, I am flagging!
I’ve still got to photograph everything, but I have done Lunchbox Culottes, Music Class Blouse,…[Read more]

I haven’t sewn much of anything all summer so I decided to ease into it with a simple project of a Field Trip tee for Picture Day on Monday. I used a soft knit fabric with chocolate biscuits on it and she didn’t want to take it off after the first try-on. I had to convince her that knits need hemming too.

I also need to trace the size 10 Field…[Read more]

  • Thanks for the encouragement, I took the plunge and ordered! I should have fabric by next week, exciting!

Nicole, I have seen some of the projects you have made with the reversed nap, it does look beautiful! Thanks for reminding me!

I will update with my progress on the jacket. I haven’t been too productive with my sewing lately what with my…[Read more]

How do you control the speed of the click?

  • I love the Kaufman London Calling line, it’s a pleasure to sew. I vote for the Butterfly set as I recall the Music Class being not the world’s quickest sew. You know your own sewing though, if you’re familiar with it and feel confident, I’m sure you’ll get loads of use from the blouse, in particular, well after the recital. I’d go for a darker…[Read more]

  • I am also considering using a corduroy for the exterior and a satin lining. Given that it’s my first time making this pattern as well as the first time making grown up clothes it might be best to keep it simple and not have to worry too much about pattern matching. It wouldn’t be a winter coat with these fabrics but would be okay for the shoulder…[Read more]

  • Thank you Nicole for your advice! No need to feel mean, it would be terrible to pay all that money just to end up with something unusable! I’m excited to take a look at eBay, I had never thought to look there for fabric. You linked to some really cute ones! 🙂
