I should have updated with pictures, eh?
I didn’t have enough time to make and finish the chain mail shirt, but he claimed that the shirt would have been too uncomfortable and itchy after he wore the fitted chain mail hood all day. I am glad the weather was beautiful and unseasonably warm on Thursday for the fair itself, as there was no school on…[Read more]

@thejennigirl how did the costume go?
I have almost finished the culottes. i have had many interruptions and disruptions that have put the sewing on the back burner. I just have the waistband facings to stitch down and they’re done.
Imogen needs a new swimsuit and in a hurry, so I have downloaded some Jalie patterns pdf style and plan to make…[Read more]

It sounds like you’ve got some great plans! I can’t wait to see everything you’re sewing.

Sew Alongs 10 years agoVanahsa, I’m so glad you’re joining us! The FBA is really quite simple, and we’re here (also in Spain–we live in Madrid) if you need anything. Let us know if you have questions!

Sew Alongs 10 years agoAddie, good question! There is quite a bit of design ease in this pattern, so you are correct that you may not need to do the FBA. If you’ve checked the fit and it seems to drape fine, you’re probably safe to go ahead with it as is. But if you’re unsure, it might be a good idea to try adding the sleeves and placket just to be sure. Based on the…[Read more]

@sarvi Thanks! We were quite surprised and she is so excited!
@justsewit Thank you Tamara! I am ordering the DVD’s so I can get a good idea of what to choose. The trouble is, I have always hated the Gene Wilder version. I love the story, but he gives me the creeps (in any film) so this will be some tough research for me. Johnny Depp on the other…[Read more]

I have made the Sailboat and the Hopscotch in denim and both were worn heavily. I do like the idea of a Swingset though!

Oh my! What an honour to have a leading role in the school play! We were just watching the 1970’s version of the movie, the one with Gene Wilder as Willy Wonka the other day.
I would say that costume in particular, for me, epitomises the very character!
But…. You could make a destinguished looking cahracter based on your own…[Read more]
