@justsewit Time to rest! Enjoy your newborn snuggles, she is beautiful.

I am preparing my pieces for the culottes sew-along and my fusible interfacing is refusing to adhere to my fabric. Very maddening! I have no idea why but I am getting it to stick just enough.

I am making the Lunch Box Culottes, but is anyone making the Girl Friday version…[Read more]

(blushing) Thank you Heidi and welcome Judy.
The pocket definitely works, I have just made one, but by all means leave it off.
I have done that and it still looks adorable.

    Congratulations @justsewit. Rest up!

42d here today and high temps expected again tomorrow. We have not been threatened with bush fires but we remain vigilant.
My heart goes out to all those who have been.

  • You girls are the best!

I went with the lining attached to the bodice and then did a few cm’s stitch-in-the-ditch sewing at the front back and side seam.
I hand sewed the lining to the zipper.

Thank you so much, I was pretty much flummoxed on this on and it turned out so nicely.

Not sewing! Just resting, nursing, trying to take in some zz’s and attempting to keep cool! When we finally have a cool change at the end of the week Chloe and I will get to play dress u in her oliver and s wardrobe.

I don’t see myself sewing from scratch for a few weeks yet but… I did sew three buttons on whilst in hospital last week, to…[Read more]

  • From the hem will be fine on these!

  • I’m actually making something for ME – ok, it’s just a t-shirt, but it’s a start! I don’t wear dressy clothes for work generally, so if I can get a great fit on this t-shirt, I plan to make about 20. Come to find out, I must have some freakishly short arms….

My 5 year old got a sewing machine for Christmas, so she is working on a doll quilt.…[Read more]

  • Sarvi, you are going to love your serger once you get going with it! It will speed up your sewing because it finished seam allowances soooo much more quickly than the sewing machine. And of course that’s just the tip of the iceberg…

This is great, Maggie! Would you have any interest in contributing a blog post about this idea? I think it would be really useful to other readers.

  • I think he’s fascinated. Knitting and sewing are skills he respects. Possibly because he’s still impressed that I can turn string into fabric. And bolts of fabric become garments.

Not that his eyes don’t glaze over when I start discussing seam finishing and types of hems. 😉

  • I should add, the topic title is the question prosed to me by my husband last night. When he asked, my response was, “I have a few things lined up on the business end, and probably selfish sewing for me with my new fabric I bought with my Christmas money. And I should probably get back to work on the drapes for the living room…sewing for the…[Read more]

Well we have just returned from hospital this morning after a delightful and relaxing six day stay.

The birth, by caesarean, was traumatic and painful! Very very different from the other two but it produced a very beautiful 8lb 10oz baby girl. Both of us are doing well now.

Her name? Chloe Jayne Elise. She is very different compared to my elder…[Read more]

  • Thank you @DawnRodriguez and @Sarvi, she wore the pants yesterday.

  • I am making this dress https://www.flickr.com/photos/motherof5/16120786621/ for my cousin and as the voile is so light I have added a bemsilk skirt lining. The zipper is added after the skirt is attached so what I normally do in this case is treat the lining and main as one, the fabric is light enough that with some gentle pressing it works.
    Does…[Read more]
