rebecca started the topic FBA without adjusting waistline…? in the forum sewing with liesl + co and oliver + s 9 years ago
@Liesl I’ve watched the Creativebug video, and understand it well, but I’m curious how to get back the smaller waistline? Whether for a top or fitted dress, I’d like to emphasize my smaller waist, but doing the FBA widens it.
I’ve seen a few other tutes on the web for just slashing the side-seam, but I’m curious what Liesl would suggest, for only…[Read more]

@liesl Hello, I would like to make some of your Lazy Day skirts to donate. Do you have a standard sizing guide I could follow for waist sizes and length? I imagine I will make skirts for girls ages 5-12.

How nice that you’re going to do that! I’d suggest referring to our measurement chart for waist sizes. If you have some of our other skirt patterns they might be helpful for lengths, but children vary so much in height at each age that it might be a good idea to make some longer and some shorter skirt. It’s tricky when you don’t know the sizes of…[Read more]

rebecca replied to the topic Any idea when the new patterns are being released…? in the forum sewing with liesl + co and oliver + s 9 years ago
I’m guessing sometime this week. @Liesl introduced her new Butterick coat pattern today (swoon!), so I’m hoping it’s a week of releases!!
I’m mostly excited that some of the previous Liesl & Co. patterns will be released in printed paper…that’s what I’m poised for!!

rebecca replied to the topic bloomers for older girls? in the forum sewing with liesl + co and oliver + s 9 years ago
@liesl I see (two years ago…) you asked if anyone was interested in the larger bloomers pattern. I didn’t see any answers, but I’m virtually raising my hand!! 😀
That in addition to the fact that I would *love* to see an O&S “basics” pattern for under-things for boys/girls, as well. 😀

Just typed a long post then lost it, anyway mine did the same thing @juliamom2009 and it was good old quilting cotton. Now in the mending pile.
Perhaps we need to interface both main and yoke. The same issue was found with Badminton dresses. What do you think @liesl an errata or warning required? -

@Liesl — I know, I covet most of Rachel Comey’s designs!! I love the simple minimalism of them.

@Liesl, maybe? I do like the way it flows when it’s all together, though. Or keep modifying and add a comment when it is posted?

Brittney replied to the topic Parachute Sweatpants Sew Along in the forum Sew Alongs 9 years ago
@Liesl The only thing I can think of, is that you would have to remember to come and check every day. Because @nestfullofeggs modifies the post, which seems the right thing to do since it flows and wouldn’t be interrupted by comments/discussion, it doesn’t refresh the topic on the main page.

What kinds of things to do you like to sew? Do you prefer fun prints and quilting cottons, or do you prefer to use apparel fabrics? Purl Soho is a tad pricy but has a lot of great ‘fun’ fabrics and is definitely a one-stop shop with everything crafty you can imagine. You can have a look online to get a feel for what they carry.

Lightning McStitch started the topic Finished waist too small in the forum liesl + co: girl friday culottes 9 years ago
I thought I’d start a new post for my problem, so it didn’t get confused with the opposite problem previously reported in another thread. I believe @Ejensewchat has had the same problem (unsure of which size she was sewing)
I’ve made the size 14 Girl Friday culottes and the finished waist has turned out about 3 inches smaller than intended.

Nice try @LightningMcStitch, but when next season’s pattern are late it won’t be my fault!
You’ll have to blame Spotlight who came in with a last-minute request for a Lisette fabric collection that forced @Liesl to put pattern development on hold in order to meet their deadline. The collection was handed off this week, so she’s back at work on…[Read more]
